Oceaneering International Inc. has secured a contract to perform the first ever deepwater AUV survey in Mexican waters, the company said on June 10.
The geophysical survey will be performed for BHP at its Trion development. Oceaneering will use the DP-2 Ocean Investigator, equipped with their OS-VI AUV and light geotechnical capabilities.
Work is currently underway and will continue for approximately 45 days. Oceaneering will also provide light geotechnical services by acquiring six meter piston core soil samples.
The well, drilled to a vertical depth of 1,569 m below the seabed by the West Hercules semisubmersible rig, encountered a 15-m oil column in a Triassic sandstone reservoir, Equinor said in a news release.
