Noble Energy’s wildcat well on its Madison prospect in deepwater Mississippi Canyon Block 479 in the Gulf of Mexico drew a blank, after reaching its targeted Upper and Middle Miocene objectives. The well did not encounter commercial hydrocarbons, said the independent, after being drilled to a total depth of 5,139 m (16,859 ft). The well has been plugged and abandoned, and the rig released. Noble operated the probe with a 60% working interest, with Stone Energy holding the remainder.
