Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc., Houston, posted a discovery with a wildcat and two appraisal sidetracks on its Noonan prospect on Garden Banks 506 in the Gulf of Mexico. The wells—#1 and #1 (ST) OCS G6664 and #1 (ST2) OCS G26664— were drilled by Remington Oil and Gas Corp., which Helix acquired last summer. It drilled the wells in 2,715 ft. of water, with the #1 reaching 19,250 ft. and the first sidetrack, 19,800 ft. Helix reported a reserve potential of at least 100 billion cu. ft. of gas equivalent. It plans fast-track development with a tieback to existing infrastructure in shallower water.
