Chevron Corp. has tapped Subsea 7 to provide subsea installation services at the St. Malo Field in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico’s (GoM) Walker Ridge area, the engineering, construction and services company said Dec. 20.
The work includes project management; engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the field’s multiphase pump system; a 14-mile water injection flowline system, inclusive of a Swagelining polymer lined flowline; and the water injection control system, the company said. Subsea 7 plans to use its Seven Vega pipelay vessel for the job.
Subsea 7 US Vice President Craig Broussard called the contract award an “important win” for the GoM region. “In addition, the combination of the SURF [subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines] scope for Subsea 7 and ongoing subsea equipment delivery by OneSubsea, will allow the Subsea Integration Alliance to work in collaboration with Chevron to unlock the value of an integrated approach to project optimization,” Broussard said.
Project management and engineering was set to start immediately at Subsea 7’s offices in Houston. The company said fabrication of the water injection flowline and riser will take place at its spoolbase in Ingleside, Texas, with offshore operations occurring in 2021.
