Rosemary Ciletti found it tough, at a key point in her career, to leave her team and her company to pursue a new opportunity and be closer to family. Having multiple managers express how much they valued her and wanted her to stay didn’t make it any easier. “While it did make it even harder to say goodbye, it also gave me the confidence to face the challenge of this large career move I was making because it validated that my hard work does pay off and get appreciated,” she says. “I still love and admire that whole team, and I make sure to tell them what an impact they made in my life every chance I get!”

Which career milestone did you reach sooner than you had planned, and what helped you reach it earlier than expected?
At TGNR, I have been helping to grow a new marketing group from the ground up, which is a really exciting opportunity to have. I believe my experience going through several mergers and acquisitions over my career gave me a unique perspective on having seen how many different ways marketing groups are set up and bring value to a producer. I have also put a lot of effort into developing my network within the industry which I have been able to leverage to help grow our business and expand our reach.

What has been your most challenging project to date, and how did you meet the challenge and accomplish your goal?
Onboarding TGNRs acquisition of Rockcliff last year was probably the most challenging project to date. Going from 0.3 Bcf/d to 1.5 Bcf/d essentially overnight was a huge undertaking for the whole company and, as a still small but growing marketing team, we had a lot of adjustments to make to be able to handle such a large increase in production to trade and schedule. We studied hard to understand all the new assets and worked diligently with other departments and external counterparts to ensure a smooth transition. I am really proud of how seamlessly our team rolled in a massive acquisition like that, and it is really awesome to reflect back on how far weve come in just one year!

How have you exercised leadership to help shape your department?
I strive to lead by example. I have a really strong work ethic and a constant desire to learn and grow, and my hope is that I can inspire others to do the same. I try to support my team by sharing my prior experience in their roles as traders and schedulers, and ensuring they are getting all the help they need to do their jobs to the best of their ability.

What advice would you give other young professionals?
Ask a lot of questions. Always be striving to learn more and gain better understanding of your own role, your company and the industry as a whole. View everything as a learning opportunity, even your failures. As Thomas Edison said, I have not failed. Ive just found 10,000 ways that wont work. I really believe you learn the most from your mistakes, and I think having that mentality helps build resilience and success. Take risks. Be willing to take chances; opportunities are everywhere but you have to be willing to go outside your comfort zone to take advantage of them. As Wayne Gretzky said, you miss 100% of the shots you dont take.

Three More Things

1. Since I’m in oil and gas marketing, people tend to be a little surprised that my bachelor’s degrees are actually in astronomy and physics.
2. I love playing soccer and continue to play to this day in an adult co-ed soccer league in Houston.
3. My husband and I attended Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans this year to watch our beloved Eagles crush the Chiefs! Go Birds!
