Woodside Energy has signed a sale and purchase agreement to supply Uniper with up to 2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG from its Louisiana LNG project, the Australian energy company said April 16.
Woodside will supply 1 mtpa of LNG from Louisiana LNG LLC on a free-on-board basis for 13 years from the project’s commercial operations date. Woodside Energy Trading Singapore Pty. Ltd. will also supply up to 1 mtpa from its global portfolio on a delivered ex-ship basis beginning with Louisiana LNG’s commercial operations date until 2039.
The agreement moves the three-train, 16.5-mtpa Louisiana LNG project closer to a final investment decision.
“Louisiana LNG is Woodside’s largest growth project. It leverages the robust U.S. gas resource, an outstanding site, best-in-class EPC and technology partners and Woodside’s track record of successful project delivery,” Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill said in the company’s April 17 press release. “The addition of Atlantic Basin LNG supply to our established position in the Pacific strengthens Woodside’s portfolio and allows us to tailor contract structures based on various price indices and tenures to better meet our customers’ diverse needs.”
