1 Tri-Valley Oil & Gas Co., Bakersfield, completed a re-drill wildcat to McClure at 9,270 ft. (5,900 ft. true vertical depth) at its #2HR Sunrise-Mayel. The location is in Section 4-25s-25e, about 2.5 miles west-northwest of Delano in Kern County, Calif. Drilling logs showed a 2,000-ft. gas-saturated zone with shows in McClure. The well, 6.5 miles east of Trico Field, previously was the Tri-Valley Oil & Gas 2H Sunrise-Mayel, drilled last year. The company set casing but later abandoned the well, according to IHS Energy. 2 Skyview Holdings Inc., La Jolla, Calif., has scheduled a wildcat targeting gas at an undisclosed depth in Section 29-25s-25e in Kern County, Calif. The #1-29 Aztec is 2.75 miles southwest of Delano and 6.5 miles north-northeast of Rose Field. 3 Mesaverde gas is the target for a wildcat permitted by Gasco Energy Inc./Pannonian Energy Inc., Englewood, Colo. The #12-32-10-17 Wilkin Ridge-State is in Section 29-10s-17e in southeastern Duchesne County, Utah, about a mile south-southwest of the field discovery well for Wilkin Ridge Field. That well was completed in 1975 flowing 297,000 cu. ft. of gas, 16 bbl. of condensate and 32 bbl. of water a day from Mesaverde. 4 Bill Barrett Corp., Denver, has scheduled a wildcat on the southwestern flank of the Uintah Basin some 18 miles northeast of Sunnyside in Carbon County, Utah. The #36-06 State-Prickly Pear Unit is in Section 36-12s-15e and was planned to search for natural gas in the Mesaverde and Mancos formations. The well is less than four miles southeast of Prickly Pear Field, which produces gas from Mesaverde. The discovery well for that well was completed in 1978. After being placed on production in 1994, the well produced 356.5 million cu. ft. of gas through last October. Barrett now operates the well and produced 182,300 cu. ft. of gas a day in October. Barrett confirmed the discovery last year with the #16-15 Prickly Pear in Section 16-12s-15e, which produced 497,000 cu. ft. of gas a day in tests. 5 MDU Resources Group Inc., Bismarck, N.D., through its Fidelity Exploration & Production Co. production subsidiary, has produced the first gas from Jurassic sediments in Phillips County, Mont. The #2 Siewing-Fee, drilled in Section 1-32n-32e, is on the Bowdoin Dome some 22 miles northeast of Malta. It flowed gas at a rate of 3.4 million cu. ft. a day from the Firemoon member of Jurassic Piper, through perforations between 2,954-64 ft. Fidelity drilled the #2 well as a replacement 100 ft. east of the #1233 Siewing in the same section. That well blew out in the Firemoon. Nearly all production in the area is from Bowdoin and Phillips at depths shallower than 1,000 ft., according to IHS Energy. 6 Cimarex Energy Co., Denver, plans two horizontal wildcats in the northwest corner of Golden Valley County, N.D., about four miles east of the Montana border. An obvious target in that area is Red River. To drill the wells, the company has asked for 1,280-acre drilling units that include all of sections 22 and 23 of 144n-105w and all of sections 31 and 32 a mile south, reports the Rocky Mountain Oil Journal. The nearest previous production was at the #2-23 Gasho in Section 23-144n-105w. That test was completed for 440 bbl. of oil per day in Red River, but later abandoned due to water encroachment. 7 Peter K. Roosevelt, Denver, has staked the #10-35-Fritz-Dahl wildcat to 2,500 ft. in Section 35-8s-2e in northwestern Fall River County, S.D. At that depth, the target is Pennsylvanian Leo. The well is three miles north-northeast of Edgemont Field, which has produced 198,900 bbl. of oil, 115 million cu. ft. of gas and 1.7 million bbl. of water from Second Leo from two wells since its discovery in 1980 through last November, according to figures from IHS Energy. 8 A Lance gas discovery tested at 623,000 cu. ft. of gas and 192 bbl. of water a day from three fractured intervals for Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co., Houston. The #24-14 Muddy Creek, in Section 14-30n-111w, Sublette County, Wyo., tested through three sets of fractured perforations between 7,794 ft. and 8,680 ft. through a 20/64-in. choke. The well is two miles north-northeaset of the company's #33-27 Muddy Creek Unit discovery that flowed 594,000 cu. ft. of gas a day from Mesaverde. Burlington set a bridge plug and recompleted in shallower Lance. The well produced 16.9 million cu. ft. of gas and 192 bbl. of condensate during its first 10 months online. 9 BP America Production Co., Houston, tested 696,000 cu. ft. of gas a day at an offset to a Lewis/Mesaverde discovery 28 miles southwest of Wamsutter in Sweetwater County, Wyo. The #1901 NW Iron Pipe, in Section 19-17n-97w, produces from two fractured Lewis intervals between 10,206 and 10,845 ft. and from five fractured Mesaverde zones from 11,220 to 11,546 ft. 10 BP also completed a multiple-interval producer about 30 miles southwest of Wamsutter. The #9-1 Kinney Springs is in Section 9-16n-98w, Sweetwater County. BP tested the well through a 64/64-in. choke from gel-fractured intervals in Lance at 9,270 to 9,340 ft., Lewis from 9,859 to 9,951 ft. and Mesaverde from 12,044 to 12,160 ft. for 447,000 cu. ft. of gas and 94 bbl. of condensate a day. 11 Calgary-based EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc., one of the most active operators in the Rocky Mountains, completed a discovery in a nonproducing area of Sweetwater County, Wyo. The company's #2-17 Mary-Federal, in Section 17-15n-110w, tested at 357,000 cu. ft. of gas, 21.4 bbl. of condensate and 4.4 bbl. of water a day from the Ericson section of the Mesaverde.
