1 Three remote wildcats, all scheduled to 3,500 ft., are set for Nevada. IHS Energy Group reports Connelly Exploration Inc., Denver, has staked the #33-2 Gap Mountain in Section 33-5n-62e, Nye County. The test is on the southern end of White River Valley. Reese River Valley in Lander County is the location of two Aspen Oil Inc. ventures. According to the Nevada Oil Reporter, the American Fork, Utah, operator has started drilling the #1 Battle Mountain, while the #2 test on the same lease remains a location. They're in Section 9-32n-45e. 2 A new-field opener completed several months ago by Billings independent Nance Petroleum Corp., the #13-30 Harmon in Montana's Roosevelt County, is producing about 100 bbl. of oil per day from Ordovician Red River "C." In June, production averaged 101 bbl. of oil, 105,100 cu. ft. of gas and 31 bbl. of water per day. The discovery, in Section 30-27n-58e, was cased to 12,594 ft., total depth, on the basis of a successful drillstem test run between 12,594-12,660 ft. in the Red River "C" burrowed zone. Nance has completed another Red River well in Montana, this one the #16-11 Sorensen on the southern end of Brush Lake Field in Sheridan County. The well yielded 134 bbl. of oil and 61 bbl. of water, with 63,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day on pump. Located in Section 11-33n-58e, it's producing through three sets of perforations between 11,393-11,438 ft. 3 Berco Resources LLC, Denver, has finaled a horizontal redrill in Montana's Woodrow Field pumping 250 bbl. of oil and 98 bbl. of water, with 348,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day from Silurian Interlake. IHS Energy Group says Berco's #2 Elpel, Section 6-16n-54e, Dawson County, is producing from a horizontal interval from 9,468 to 10,625 ft., total depth. The #2 Elpel is a redrill of a vertical well completed in 1987 producing oil from Mississippian Charles (Madison) at 7,850-70 ft. and Interlake at 9,387-9,407 ft. 4 K2 America Corp., asubsidiary of Calgary-based K2 Energy Corp., has received drilling permits for three remote wildcats and applied for permits to drill five more on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana, all in Glacier County. The three permitted ventures are the 1,550-ft. #1 Middle Fork-Tribal-Federal in Section 24-36n-12w, a Horsethief Sand test; and, the 5,000-ft. #2 Middle Fork in Section 34-36n-12w and 3,860-ft. #1 North Fork in Section 25-37n-13w, both Virgelle tests. The company has applied for permits to drill three tests in Township 37n-12w, and one each in 37n-13w and 36n-12w. Projected depths range from 1,800 ft. to 5,000 ft. 5 North Dakota's Dunn County claims two new producers, one a Devonian Duperow discovery and the other a horizontal Madison well. The discovery is the #34-36 Davis-State, Section 36-146n-95w, completed by Houston independent Edward Mike Davis flowing oil at a calculated rate of 1,080 bbl. per day, with 54 bbl. of water daily. Davis tested on a 36/64-in. choke through perforations at 11,326-31 ft. and 11,352-62 ft. Belco Energy Corp., New York City, completed the horizontal well pumping 181 bbl. of oil and 47 bbl. of water, with 138,000 cu. ft. of gas, per day. Belco's second such producer in the Crooked Creek Field area, it's the #2-22 Dvorak in Section 22-143n-97w. The production is from an openhole interval between 9,767-14,600 ft. in the Sherwood "C" member of Mission Canyon (Madison). 6 Devonian Birdbear (Nisku) is the producing formation at the BTA Oil Producers #1 Olsen, a deeper-pool discovery in North Dakota's Ash Coulee Field. IHS Energy Group reports the exploratory test in Section 14-142n-102w, Billings County, produced oil at rates up to 157 bbl. per day, with up to 147,000 cu. ft. of gas and four bbl. of water daily. BTA, of Midland, Texas, completed the well producing through perforations at 10,679-83 ft. 7 Duncan Oil Inc., Denver, completed the #2-13 Record, a development well in Campbell County, Wyoming's FD Field, flowing 354 bbl. of oil per day. The well, in Section 13-50n-71w, was tested through perforations at 9,166-82 ft. in Pennsylvanian Minnelusa. 8 Another oil producer was recently completed in Campbell County. It's Sheridan, Wyo., independent Stone & Wolf LLC's #10-5H Bishop. The horizontal well was drilled from a surface location in Section 10-47n-69w southwestward to a bottomhole location in Section 9 and completed on pump for an initial rate of 100 bbl. of oil per day. It's producing from Lower Cretaceous Mowry, through a preperforated liner set from 7,365 ft. to 9,052 ft. The well is a redrill of a 9,016-ft. dry hole drilled by the company a year ago. 9 Forest Oil Corp., Denver, recorded a flow of 10.752 million cu. ft. of gas, 110 bbl. of condensate and 22 bbl. of water per day from Upper Cretaceous Lance at completion of the #23-14 Elm-Federal in Section 23-28n-109w, Sublette County, Wyo. The well, on the southwestern flank of Jonah Field, was gauged on a 40/64-in. choke through eight perforated intervals between 7,780-9,660 ft. 10 Nebraska is slated to get a remote wildcat, scheduled by R.L. Hrbek and Jim Snyder in Dundy County. The venture, the #1 Freehling in Section 26 of partial Township 1n-42w, is set up as a 2,500-ft. test of Cretaceous Dakota. IHS Energy Group says the drillsite is nearly eight miles northwest of Nutty Combe Field in Kansas' Cheyenne County. 11 A multizone producer-the #3 Duncan Unit-has been completed by Texaco Exploration & Production Inc. in Colorado's West Hiawatha Field. The initial flow amounted to 2.239 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the well, in Section 19-12n-100w, Moffat County. The #3 Duncan Unit is producing from four zones-Tertiary Wasatch between 2,528-3,569 ft. and Fort Union at 4,097-4,127 ft., and Cretaceous Fox Hills at 4,362-67 ft. and Mesaverde at 5,154-5,210 ft. The 5,372-ft. well was spudded in Wasatch. 12 Projected depth is 11,000 ft. in Permian Lyons at the #1 State 16-4, a remote wildcat scheduled by Plainview Oil & Gas Inc., Littleton, Colo., in Jefferson County, Colo. The newly staked location is in Section 16-2s-70w, two miles northwest of a noncommercial Cretaceous J Sand gas discovery that was tested at 9,508-56 ft. 13 Ridgeway Petroleum Corp., Calgary, says it's planning a 50-well drilling program on its St. Johns Anticline property in eastern Arizona to prepare the way for the recovery of helium and the sequestration of carbon dioxide from the reserves in the area. The company says it has letters in hand from helium buyers expressing a need of up to 1.3 billion cu. ft. per year, currently estimated to be the field producing ability. Ridgeway, citing an assessment by an independent consulting firm, says its helium reserves amount to approximately 66 billion cu. ft. The same study estimated Ridgeway's carbon dioxide reserves to be approximately 14.8 trillion cu. ft. The Ridgeway holdings in eastern Arizona and western New Mexico are believed to be the largest known undeveloped/uncommitted sources of helium and carbon dioxide in the world. 14 Phillips Alaska Inc. plans to directionally drill a 14,400-ft. wildcat at the #1 Phillips McCovey on OCS Block 6515 in the Beaufort Sea. True vertical depth is expected to be 13,000 ft. IHS Energy Group says Phillips expects to spud the test after completion of an ice island, probably in late February 2001, with drilling expected to require about 40 days. 15 A five-year National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska exploration program scheduled by BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. is slated to begin this winter on Alaska's North Slope. BP's Trailblazer prospect is made up of eight possible well-pad locations-six of them in Township 12n-3w, Umiat Meridian, and one each in 12n-4w and 11n-2w. The program is in conjunction with partners Chevron and Phillips and drilling is contingent on permits, partner consensus and funding, and could be postponed from this winter to a future winter.
