Mexican listed firm Vista Energy, Argentina's second-largest shale oil producer behind state-owned YPF, said on June 11 it will import a new fracking set to accelerate its activity in the Vaca Muerta shale formation.
Vista sealed an agreement with SLB for the new equipment expected for the second half of the year.
"A fundamental part of our drilling plan in Vaca Muerta is the incorporation of equipment with the highest technology, which allows us to be more efficient when it comes to achieving our production targets," Juan Garoby, co-founder and COO of Vista, said in a statement.
The company expects to reach an output of 85,000 boe/d by the end of this year.
Vaca Muerta, which houses the world's second-largest shale gas reserve and fourth largest for shale oil, is Argentina's hope to reverse a significant deficit in the energy trade balance and become a net energy exporter.
Vista said in February that it plans to reach 100,000 boe/d by 2026, and 150,000 boe/d by 2030.
