Vertex Energy Inc.’s renewable diesel facility in Mobile, Alabama, achieved initial production on May 27 following two weeks of downtime for repairs on the feedstock pumping system, the company said in a May 31 press release.
“It is a great achievement to see our project transition from concept to production, and we couldn't have done it without the focus and coordination of everyone involved," James Rhame, COO of Vertex Energy, said.
In addition, the company announced a renewable supply and offtake agreement with liquidity provider Macquarie Group Ltd. to supply liquidity to secure feedstock inventory for renewable diesel production and to monetize renewable diesel and regulatory credits for the facility.
Vertex expects to begin the commercial sale of renewable diesel starting in June 2023.
