The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) gave Venture Global permission to introduce hazardous fluids into gas turbine generators 4 and 5 as part of the Phase 2 expansion at the Plaquemines LNG facility.
Plaquemines LNG began production near the end of 2024. The facility will have a total capacity of 2.6 Bcf/d of natural gas upon completion. Venture Global asked FERC for permission to introduce hazardous materials into the generators at the plant on March 14 and March 18.
Venture Global said further information about the procedure was proprietary and did not share further information on public documents related to the generators.
According to the company’s web site, Plaquemines will have two 720 megawatt combined-cycle generators that will use natural gas to produce the power required to drive the electric motors of the liquefaction trains.
