TotalEnergies has announced two separate long-term LNG sales in Turkey and China in an effort to grow its long-term LNG sales.
TotalEnergies said Sept. 18 that it signed a heads of agreement with Turkey’s state-owned BOTAŞ for the delivery of 1.1 MMtons of LNG per year starting in 2027. On Sept. 19, Total also announced it would extend a sales and purchase agreement with CNOOC for five years to deliver an additional 1.25 MMtons of LNG per year to China until 2034.
The agreements strengthen TotalEnergies’ long-term positions in both Turkey and China’s LNG markets and supports natural gas a transition fuel to replace coal.
The BOTAŞ and CNOOC agreements reduce the company’s exposure to spot market gas price fluctuations, said Gregory Joffroy, senior vice president of LNG at TotalEnergies, in both press releases.
