TotalEnergies reached a milestone of 500 MW of onsite business-to-business solar distributed generation in operation across more than 300 industrial and commercial sites in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the U.S., a company press release announced on Oct. 25.

"Thanks to our expertise in this market segment, we provide concrete and competitive solutions to our B2B customers to help them reach their sustainability goals and reduce their energy costs," vice president of solar distributed generation Matthieu Langeron commented in the release.

TotalEnergies sells green electricity to its customers produced directly on their operational sites, the company stated.

Through long-term power purchase agreements, the company develops, finances, builds and operates the solar installations on available industrial land, roofs and carports.

Customers are then able to produce clean energy directly at their sights through the solar installations and benefit from electricity cost and carbon footprint reductions.

TotalEnergies is aiming to reach net zero by 2050 and is creating a renewable electricity portfolio that includes close to 12 GW as of June 2022. The company's next milestone is to reach 35 GW of renewable and storage gross production capacity by 2025 and 100 GW by 2030.

"With a footprint spanning 30 countries worldwide in the Distributed Generation business, we expect to speed up our growth and expand our portfolio in operation to 1 GW by 2023," Langeron continued.
