Tallgrass Energy LP has agreements in place to financially justify constructions of a new natural gas pipeline from the Permian Basin, with a targeted in-service date in late 2028, according to a May 13 press release.
The pipeline project is expected to transport gas from multiple points in the Permian to the Rockies Express Pipeline and other points of delivery, Tallgrass said.
The line is designed to transport up to 2.4 Bcf of natural gas, with the ultimate capacity to be determined depending on shipper commitments from its open season announced subsequently, Tallgrass said.
Tallgrass made the decision to build the line after signing sufficient firm transportation commitments. The company will also hold an open season to provide additional interested parties with an opportunity to subscribe to firm transportation service on the pipeline.
Once in service, natural gas from the project aims to reach markets across Tallgrass’ 800-mile decarbonization pipeline network, the company said.
The pipeline is also planned to support industrial, agricultural and technological development and innovation, from reshoring, policies to promote U.S. agriculture, and AI-driven power demand, Tallgrass said.
