Strike action is stopping refined products from leaving all five of TotalEnergies SE’ refineries in France, and one of its fuel storage depots, a CGT union official told Reuters on Sept. 27.
No product is leaving TotalEnergies’ 240,000 bbl/d Gonfreville oil refinery, the 119,000 bbl/d Feyzin oil refinery, the 230,000 bbl/d Donges refinery and La Mede biorefinery, CGT union delegate Thierry Defresne said.
Very little product is currently leaving the 102,000 bbl/d Grandpuits refinery, and distribution will be halted on Sept. 28, a union official at Grandpuits told Reuters.
Product transport from the Cote d’Opale fuel storage depots near Dunkirk has also stopped, Defresne said.
The Feyzin oil refinery is currently offline.
“In anticipation of the strike, TotalEnergies has taken the necessary logistical measures to be able to supply its service station network and its customers normally,” a TotalEnergies spokesperson said.
French union CGT TotalEnergies plans to strike until Sept. 29.
The strike action has deepened French refining woes already hit by outages and walkouts at other oil refineries.
More than 40% of France’s refining capacity is currently offline.
As a result of strike action, Exxon Mobil Corp. began shutting its 240,000 bbl/d Port Jerome-Gravenchon refinery and Notre Dame de Gravenchon petrochemical site on Sept. 20, and the 235,000 bbl/d Fos-Sur-Mer refinery on Sept. 21.
The shutdowns were completed on the weekend of Sept. 24 and dialogue is ongoing as strike action continues, an Exxon Mobil spokesperson told Reuters by phone on Sept. 27.
