Denver-based SM Energy Co. has made several officer appointments and announced the retirement of Jennifer Martin Samuels, the company’s vice president of investor relations and ESG stewardship.
Samuels plans to remain with SM in an advisory capacity until later this year following her retirement, effective March 7, the company said in its Feb. 20 year-end 2024 earnings press release.
Additionally, Dean Lutey was promoted to senior vice president – chief information officer. Lutey joined SM in 2008 and has since held roles as vice president – chief information officer, vice president of information technology and manager of production services.
Pat Lytle, who joined the company in 2007 as a senior accountant, will assume the role of senior vice president of finance. Lytle holds over 20 years of accounting and finance experience in the energy industry.
He will also takeover investor relations and ESG stewardship responsibilities, as well as oversee treasury functions.
Richard Jenkins, currently vice president of Utah, was promoted to senior vice president of Utah. Jenkins joined SM in 2010 as a senior reservoir engineer and was named vice president of operations in 2023.
Lastly, Alan Bennett was named vice president and controller. Bennett, who joined SM in 2011, most recently served as senior director of financial planning and analysis and previously served as director of operations accounting.
The officer appointment will take effect March 2, SM said.
