Petrobras has awarded SLB a 5-year contract to deploy its Delfi digital platform on an enterprise-level scale, the company said in a July 6 press release.
The contract was awarded to increase Petrobras’ total operations production, and covers the company’s digital transformation from exploration to development and production operations, which includes moving subsurface workflows to the cloud. Petrobras’ contract with SLB will help the Brazilian-based E&P achieve its decarbonization and net zero targets, in addition to being one of the largest investments Petrobras has made in cloud-based technology.
The geological and geophysical interpretative Delfi platform improves digital technology and computing power and reduces processing time from hours to minutes. “AI and machine learning applications reduced fault interpretation time in petrophysical modeling workflows by 60%,” according to the release.
“By leveraging AI, machine learning and high-performance computing technology from SLB, Petrobras will drive aggressive efficiency and production increases across its E&P business,” said Rakesh Jaggi, president of digital and integration at SLB. “Leveraging the Delfi platform to digitally transform Petrobras’ E&P workflows, will improve efficiency and demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and energy transition.”
