Proserv Controls on Sept. 16 unveiled two new facilities in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi and Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, Scotland as the controls technology provider seeks to drive forwards its expanding service support business.

Despite the on-going global challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, Proserv, which is based in Aberdeen, said it has proactively pursued the establishment of the new sites in recent months as it continues to win significant orders despite the general slowdown.

“We made our commitment to these facilities before the pandemic arrived, and our team has skillfully harnessed their dynamic designs to make them safe and entirely fit for purpose within the current requirement for socially distanced work environments, with reduced physical contact,” Michael Purkiss, Proserv’s vice president of services, said in a statement on Sept. 16.

Both locations offer larger spaces, according to Purkiss, plus dedicated factory acceptance testing (FAT) studios, which currently also have the flexibility to carry the testing out remotely for customers.

“Moreover, they give us the necessary scale and size to ramp up our expanding activities and enhance our efficiencies even further,” he said.

Proserv Controls’ new facility in Abu Dhabi is an upgrade on its previous base in the city, boasting a dedicated service workshop of more than 1,000 sq m, 400 sq m of office space and encompassing a total footprint of almost 3,000 sq m.

The Mussafah site delivers a wide range of Proserv’s service and production capabilities including the build, repair and upgrade of all brands of hydraulic control systems, pressure testing facilities, as well as the provision of the firm’s bespoke AEGIS maintenance optimization solution and remote asset monitoring.

Meanwhile, Proserv’s new site in Cumbernauld  represents the firm’s Service Centre of Excellence for Measurement and replaces its location in Coatbridge. The facility offers almost 800 sq m of space, including a testing laboratory, workshop and office provision. The base will serve as the team’s global headquarters for its growing measurement and metering activities, with a capability to supply independent system design, build and installation.

The center houses Proserv’s in-house technical and design teams with their expertise in system modification and upgrade.

Although Proserv’s measurement and metering offering will retain its headquarters at Cumbernauld, it will also consolidate its presence further at the firm’s Abu Dhabi facility, with the new space enabling it to support its increasing Middle East and North Africa activities from the regional hub.

The team is delivering contracts in Libya and carries out work on the Arabian Peninsula.

“These new facilities demonstrate that even during a global pandemic, we are growing and moving forwards,“ Purkiss added in a statement. “Strategically, there are strong synergies between these sites that will ultimately assist in expanding our footprint through enhanced capacity and scale.”
