Digitized safety solutions company Salunda has signed an agreement with technology services provider Intellilift to increase safety and efficiency in well construction.
The agreement, announced Aug. 21, was signed following a successful pilot trial integrating Intellilift’s digital technologies with Salunda’s patented camera and wearable red zone monitoring solutions on a drilling rig.
“By integrating our hazardous area monitoring technologies with Intellilift’s systems, we can support in optimising the construction of wells by merging information gathered from drilling equipment and the movements of personnel in close proximity to Red Zones,” said Salunda CEO Alan Finlay, noting that merging the companies’ data can result in improved safety controls and reduced downtime.
Salunda’s Crew Hawk wearable technology and HaloGuard cameras wirelessly monitor hazardous working environments in real-time, tracking individuals and equipment to provide anonymized feedback that focuses on safe operations and minimizing risk.
For dynamic situations, Salunda said a zone can be triggered around activated equipment or machinery. Individuals then receive direct alerts should they enter these zones, while Salunda’s motion trigger and e-stop technology can be used to pause equipment, according to the company.
By accelerating well construction through automation, the combined capabilities of Salunda’s and Intellilift’s advancements is expected to "safeguard the wellbeing of personnel working in hazardous areas and enhance efficiency in the drilling rig market.," Salunda said.
