Eni’s Plenitude has begun production at its 263 megawatt (MW) Golden Buckle Solar Project in Brazoria County, TX, 80 km south of Houston, Eni announced in a Feb. 3 press release.
The photovoltaic plant will produce 400 gigawatt-hour (GWh) to 500 GWh per year of solar energy, which is enough to power 45,000 homes. Most of the energy the plant produces will be sold to Target Corp. through a long-term contract.
Built in just over a year, its development was supported by Novis Renewables LLC, a joint partnership between Eni New Energy U.S. Inc. and Renantis North America Inc. Novis Renewables is exclusive to the U.S. and supports solar, wind and storage projects.
Eni is an integrated global energy company headquartered in Rome, Italy. Plenitude is Eni’s benefit corporation and integrates the production and sale of renewable energy with a network of electric vehicle charging stations.
The Golden Buckle Solar Project is part of the company’s plans to exceed 15 GW of installed capacity by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
