John Jacobi, non-executive director at Haynesville shale producer Comstock Resources Inc., spoke with Hart Energy’s Jessica Morales about his outlook for natural gas opportunities and the LNG market.

A self-described “proponent of natural gas,” Jacobi previously served as co-CEO of Covey Park Energy, a Dallas-based private independent focused on the Haynesville and Bossier shale gas plays. He later joined the board of directors at Comstock Resources following its acquisition of Covey Park in 2019.

Jacobi said the country obviously has “too much gas being produced at this time” but he’s still leery of projecting a great winter as it relates to natural gas demand later this year.

“I am bullish on natural gas. I think it will be higher than it is today ... but personally I don’t think we are going to see this massive recovery that others think we will,” he said. “I look at it longer term as a commodity of choice.”
