Northwind Midstream Partners received the permit for its third acid gas injection well (AGI) at the Titan Treating Complex in Lea County, New Mexico, the company announced May 29.
Five Point Infrastructure’s Northwind also announced federal approval for the complex’s monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) plan for permanent sequestration of CO2 in wells on the site, as well as the completion of a compressor station.
The MRV approval came from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and allows the company to qualify for 45Q tax credits.
The Pelham Compressor Station expands Northwind’s G&P network in Lea County, the company said. With the added compression, its network capacity is about 225 MMcf/d of natural gas.
The network includes more than 200 miles of pipeline and is engineered to manage gas with high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide and CO2.
“With these approvals in hand, we look forward to advancing the build-out of our Titan Treating Complex, providing our producer partners in Lea County with essential off-spec gas gathering, treating and sequestration capacity,” said Northwind CEO Matt Spicer.
Five Point is considering the sale of Northwind in a transaction that could total as much as $2 billion, Reuters reported May 19.
