The deeper-pool test is in an area of Silurian Clinton production in an unnamed field. 7 IHS Energy Group reports several wildcats have been staked by Columbia Natural Resources Inc. , Charleston, W.Va., in New York's Yates County, including the #623968 Bouodinot that has a projected depth of 7,460 ft. in Trenton-Black River. The test is in Section H of Dundee Quad, Starkey Township. Two other ventures planned by Columbia are to reach Ordovician Queenston. They are the 6,650-ft. #624464 Folts in Section G of Penn Yan Quad, Jerusalem Township, and the 5,750-ft. #624469 Button in Section C of Middlesex Quad, Middlesex Township. 8 DuBois, Pa.-based Fairman Drilling Co. has set a target depth of 9,962 ft., to evaluate Trenton-Black River, at the #1 Bonham in Schuyler County, N.Y. The wildcat's drillsite is in Section D of Beaver Dam Quad, Orange Township, five miles north of Lower Oriskany gas production in Corning North Field. 9 Another Queenston test, a new-field wildcat with a projected depth of 3,315 ft., has been scheduled in New York. It's the National Fuel Gas Supply Corp. #1-1741 Vanderbosch in Section E of Perrysburg Quad, Villenova Township, Chautauqua County, in the extreme western area of the state. National Fuel has its headquarters in Buffalo. 10 Solana Petroleum Corp. , Calgary, says it has signed an exclusive option agreement with Trenton Black River Gas Partners Inc. (TBRGP) to obtain TBRGP's 35% participation right in a joint venture formed to explore for deep Trenton-Black River gas on approximately 80,000 acres in northwestern West Virginia. The area of interest lies in the Rome Trough of the Appalachian Basin of West Virginia. The joint venture has obtained permits for 25 drilling locations and has completed seismic delineation of three initial prospects, the first of which will be a Doddridge County test to be drilled below 15,000 ft. to test the entire Trenton-Black River section. Solana says as many as 60 potential drilling prospects have been identified on the acreage. 11 Two successful exploratory wells in West Virginia have been completed by Equitable Production Co. , Charleston, W.Va., as Mississippian-Devonian gas producers, reports IHS Energy Group. In Mingo County, the #506074 McKenzie tested 1.43 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Mississippian Big Lime/Big Injun between 2,364-2,551 ft. and Devonian Berea at 3,167-3,220 ft., Upper Shale/Gordon between 3,309-3,615 ft. and Lower Shale between 4,005.5-4,656 ft. The well is in Magnolia District, Dalbarton Quad. The company's second producer is the #506173 Carbon Fuel in Cabin Creek District, Dorothy Quad, Kanawha County. It flowed 1.239 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Mississippian Upper Weir at 2,800-20 ft., Lower Weir at 2,852-62 and from Gordon/Berea between 3,182-3,407 ft. 12 Pruet Production Co. , Jackson, Miss., has set pipe after coring oil shows in Jurassic Smackover at one Escambia County, Ala., wildcat, and is drilling below 3,840 ft. at another, according to the Southeastern Oil Review.
