It's in Section 6, Bethlehem Township, Navarre Quad. 6 An exploratory test staked by Franklin Gas & Oil Co. Inc., Wooster, Ohio, is to be drilled to 5,600 ft. to Cambrian Trempealeau in Ohio's Wayne County. The deeper-pool wildcat, in Stringtown Field, is the #1 Miller Unit, Section 17, Franklin Township, Holmesville Quad. 7 A joint venture headed by Fairman Drilling Co., DuBois, Pa., and East Resources Inc., Pittsburgh, as co-operators has made three Ordovician Black River discoveries in central New York, reports East Resources. The first well, the 9,362-ft. #1 Broz Unit in Chemung County, flowed 30 million cu. ft. of gas per day. It's in Section I of Montour Falls Quad, Veteran Township. The second discovery, also in Chemung County, is the #1 Whiteman in Section I of Beaver Dam Quad, Catlin Township. It bottomed at 9,511 ft. and was completed flowing 12.8 million cu. ft. of gas per day. The most recent discovery is the #1 New York State Reforestation Area 2 in Schuyler County. Located in Section C of Bradford Quad, Orange Township, it was drilled to a total depth of 8,771 ft. and completed flowing in excess of 30 million cu. ft. of gas per day. Partners in the joint venture are FDC Venture 15, East Resources Inc. and Abarta Oil & Gas Co. Inc., Pittsburgh. Additional exploratory and development tests are to be drilled on more than 250,000 acres acquired in New York's Finger Lakes region and other areas of the Appalachian Basin. 8 More Trenton-Black River exploratory activity in central New York, this by Pennsylvania General Energy, Warren, Pa., is reported by IHS Energy Group. In Steuben County, the company is moving in rotary tools to drill to 10,300 ft. at the #1355 Van Vleet in Section D of Corning Quad, Hornby Township. The company has made location for a second test, the #1322 Rhodes in neighboring Chemung County. The drillsite is in Section E of Big Flats Quad, Big Flats Township. Projected depth is 10,000 ft. 9 Pennsylvania's Centre County is to get five new 4,000-ft. Upper Devonian wildcats, all scheduled to be drilled by Mid East Oil, Indiana, Pa., in Karthaus Quad, Burnside Township. The most remote of the five is the #1 McCullough that's about 5 miles west of Karthaus Field in Section A of the quad. The other four wildcats are the #1 Mull and #2 Renoe in Section B, and the #1 William C. Confer and #1 Renoe in Section C. 10 Ardent Resources Inc., Bethel Park, Pa., and Columbia Natural Resources Inc., Charleston, have each scheduled drilling to Cambrian zones at wildcats in Lee District, Arnoldsburg Quad, Calhoun County, W.Va., reports IHS Energy Group.
