1 Gallagher Drilling Inc., Evansville, gauged an initial flow of 400 bbl. of oil per day at the #1 City of Grayville, a Mississippian O'Hara discovery in Section 21-3s-14w, within the city limits of Grayville in White County, Ill. The company notes there is no O'Hara production within two miles of the 3,100-ft. deeper-pool opener, which was drilled within 0.75-mile of wells on the east side of Phillipstown Consolidated Field. Gallagher says it plans to drill a northeast offset at the #2 City of Grayville, in Section 16-3s-14w, across the county line in Wabash County. The new venture has a projected depth of 3,900 ft. in Mississippian Warsaw, also making it a deeper-pool test. 2 Drilling is under way at the Mannon L. Walters Inc. #1A Floyd Mitchell in Section 13-6s-7e, Hamilton County, Ill. According to IHS Energy Group, the Evansville independent plans to drill to 5,200 ft. to evaluate zones through Devonian at the deeper-pool wildcat in Enfield South Field. The venture offsets the company's #1 Floyd Mitchell, a scheduled 5,200-ft. test that was junked and abandoned last June at a depth of 4,270 ft. 3 Ordovician Trenton is the objective of the #1 Lacey Trust, a deeper-pool venture scheduled to be drilled to 5,900 ft. by CEJA Corp., Tulsa, in Illinois' Miletus Field. The drill site is in Section 21-4n-4e, Marion County, in an area of an ongoing Devonian play that has been under way since 1996. 4 Oaktown Field in Knox County, Ind., is the location of a 4,000-ft. test of Devonian sediments, scheduled to be drilled by Mackey & Tanner Petroleum Inc., Bloomington, Ind. The new project is the #3 Grace Giltner in Section 9-5n-10w. Mississippian Salem at about 1,900 ft. is the deepest productive formation in Oaktown Field. 5 Drilling is nearing 1,800 ft. at a 3,000-ft. wildcat Lexington-based Ohio Kentucky Oil Corp. has under way in Union County, Ky. IHS Energy Group reports the company plans to evaluate formations through Mississippian St. Louis at the #4 Camp Breckinridge, Section 18-O-21. The drill site is a little more than a mile southwest of the abandoned Casey Creek Field, which produced oil from Pennsylvanian and Mississippian Cypress to about 2,300 ft. 6 West Bay Exploration Co., Traverse City, Mich., is drilling below 5,700 ft. at the #1 KRCC/EPC, a wildcat in Section 10-F-76, Nolansburg Quad, Harlan County, Ky. Target depth is 6,500 ft. at the venture, which will test Ordovician Black River. The closest producing wells lie about 3.5 miles to the north in Big Sandy Field. 7 Baton Rouge, La.-based Planet Energy Inc. plans to evaluate horizons through Cambro-Ordovician Knox to a depth of 4,000 ft. at the #1 Jackson in Section 19-H-70, Ogle Quad, Clay County, Ky. The newly staked project is in a lightly drilled area about five miles west of Devonian and Siluro-Devonian Corniferous gas producers in Double Creek Field and 11 miles south of the closest Knox production in Oneida Consolidated Field. 8 Savoy Exploration Inc. and Savoy Energy LP, Traverse City, announced the third successful completion in West Albert 22 Field, Montmorency County, Mich., flowed 3.9 million cu. ft. of gas and 205 bbl. of condensate per day. The new producer-the #2-22 Rood in Section 22-29n-1e, Albert Township-was tested through perforations in Silurian Niagaran Reef between 6,282-6,795 ft. It's about a quarter-mile south of the discovery #1-22B Savoy & Hubble and about a half-mile east of the confirmation #1-21 Champine et al. Savoy owns a 90% working interest in the three productive wells in the field and its surrounding acreage block. 9 Other activity by Savoy Energy LP in Michigan includes plans to directionally redrill the Hubbard Lake Field discovery in Alcona County. IHS Energy Group reports the #1-7A Beck, Section 7-28n-8e, Caledonia Township, is to be drilled to a depth of 7,679 ft. for tests of Ordovician Prairie du Chien. The discovery-the #1-7 Beck-was originally completed in 1990 flowing 1.411 million cu. ft. of gas, 34 bbl. of condensate and four bbl. of water per day from Prairie du Chien at 6,998-7,024 ft. However, it apparently was never produced. 10 Austin Exploration LLC, Luddington, Mich., is drilling toward a projected depth of 4,250 ft. at a remote wildcat in Branch County, Mich. The company's #1-7 Friend, Section 7-6s-5w, Quincy Township, is designed to evaluate Trenton-Black River. 11 In New York, Columbia Natural Resources Inc., Charleston, W.Va., has added another wildcat to its exploration program in the southern Finger Lakes region. The new venture is the #1 Austic in Hector Township, Section G of Trumansburg Quad, Schuyler County. IHS Energy Group says the project is a scheduled 7,510-ft. test of Trenton-Black River. The drill site is five miles northwest of Hoovers Run Field. 12 A 5,000-ft. Devonian Shale test has been staked by Allen, Ky., independent J.W. Kinzer at the #991 David L. Francis Testamentary Trust et al. in Mingo County, W.Va. The wildcat is nearly three miles northwest of Magnolia Field in Tug River District, Delbarton Quad. It sits a little less than a mile northwest of the #980 Lauren Land Co. Inc., a projected 5,800-ft. Devonian Shale prospect in Tug River District, where Kinzer completed drilling operations recently and was waiting on a completion rig. 13 Other exploratory work scheduled in West Virginia includes a deeper-pool wildcat staked by Columbia Natural Resources Inc. in Clay County's Elkhurst Field. CNR's #23893 Fee, Henry District, Elkhurst Quad, is to be drilled to 5,625 ft., with Rhinestreet being the targeted formation. 14 Ohio Kentucky Oil Corp.'s #1 Roger Wright in Pickett County, Tenn., flowed oil at a rate of 20 bbl. per hour from Ordovician Stones River at about 1,190 ft. The discovery, in Section 18-1s-53e, Alpine Quad, in the Spurrier Field area, is expected to stabilize at a rate of 200-400 bbl. a day. Spurrier Field is a Knox pool. Ohio Kentucky Oil has an agreement with Young Oil Corp., Knob Lick, Ky., to develop the more than 2,000 acres under lease the two companies have around the discovery. 15 Moon-Hines-Tigrett Operating Co. Inc., Jackson, Miss., is production testing after perforating at the #1 Betsy-Williamson 19-4, a Paleozoic wildcat in Fayette County, Ala. The Southeastern Oil Review reports pipe was set to the total depth of 4,615 ft. The well, located in Section 19-17s-13w, is 1.25 miles northeast of the company's #1 Betsy-Harton Estate 24-13 that flowed 517,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from Mississippian Lewis Sand at 4,498-4,515 ft. The latter well is in Section 24-17s-14w, South Kennedy Field, in adjoining Lamar County. 16 In Lamar County, Hughes Eastern Corp., Jackson, Miss., set pipe on bottom at 3,000 ft. at a Paleozoic wildcat in Section 36-13s-15w. The Southeastern Oil Review says the operator was waiting on a completion rig at the #1 Otts 36-3, which was set up as a 3,000-ft. test of Lewis.
