New Era Helium Inc. and Sharon AI Inc.’s joint venture (JV) Texas Critical Data Centers LLC has started on the first phase of development for a 250-megawatt AI and high-performance computing facility in Ector County, Texas, the JV partners announced April 16.
As part of Phase 1, New Era Helium and Grow Odessa’s deal for 200 acres has expanded to 235 acres for the site. The deal is expected to close within the next 90 days.
Texas Critical Data Centers has gone ahead with setting up infrastructure and operational items to support the data center, including lit fiber access, gas supply agreements, gas transmission line access and power plant designs connected to reciprocating natural gas engines with carbon capture capabilities.
The JV is currently holding conversations with potential engine providers to power the data center.
The majority of the data center’s 250-megwatt capacity is expected to be operational by December 2026.
Discussions are underway with several potential customers of the data center as part of the JV’s go-to-market strategy.
