Neptune Energy Group announced Jan. 9 the first oil production from its Rӧmerberg 6 well in Speyer, Germany, with initial production suggesting flow rates of up to 1,800 boe/d.
As operator of the well, Neptune’s production in the Rhine Valley is expected to increase to approximately 3,700 boe/d. The license owner is Palatina GeoCon.
Rӧmerberg 6 is the ninth production well on the Rӧmerberg field, which was discovered in 2003 and began producing in 2008.
Production limits of the field were raised after Neptune received approval in October from the State Mining Authority for Rhineland-Palatinate, opening up the company’s full-field development strategy. Neptune hopes to invest in surface facilities to support higher production rates, upgrade water treatment and reduce emissions from flaring, according to the press release.
Headquartered in London, Neptune Energy is a global E&P with operations across Europe, Asia Pacific and North Africa. In 2021, the company had 130,000 net boe of production and 2P reserves of 604 MMboe as of Dec. 31.
