1 Anadarko Petroleum Corp., based in The Woodlands, staked another wildcat in its series targeting pre-Permian horizons in southwestern Kansas' Hugoton Embayment, about 12 miles southwest of the town of Hugoton. The #2 Heintz "D," which will be in Section 8-35s-38w in southwestern Stevens County, is scheduled to a depth of 7,025 ft. to evaluate the Morrow sands and the St. Louis. The location is in the greater Panoma Gas Area, one or two miles generally north of the closest pre-Permian producers in Mouser Field. Wells in the Oklahoma portion of the field have recovered 272 billion cu. ft. of gas with 4.1 million bbl. of oil and condensate, primarily from the Morrow. 2 Murfin Drilling Co. Inc., Wichita, Kan., staked a Sedgwick Basin wildcat a half-mile north of Kingman in southern Kansas. The #1-30 Cox, which will be in Section 30-27s-7w in northern Kingman County, will evaluate the Lansing-Kansas City and Mississippian to a depth of 4,100 ft. The well site is more than a mile south-southwest of the closest production, in Kingman West Field. The three-well pool has produced 279 million cu. ft. of gas from a Mississippian reservoir at approximately 3,935 ft. 3 Allen, Texas-based PV Exploration Co. staked a wildcat in a lightly drilled, nonproducing township in the northeastern Arkoma Basin three miles north of Hector, Ark. The #1-11 Parton, in Section 11-10n-19w, north-central Pope County, is set up as a 3,200-ft. test to the Arbuckle. The test is less than five miles north-northeast of Scottsville Field, which was abandoned in 1999 after recovering 223 million cu. ft. of gas, according to IHS Energy. 4 D&J Pipe Co., El Dorado, Ark., has begun completion operations at a remote Nacatoch wildcat in southern Union County, Ark. Located immediately north of the Louisiana border and about seven miles east of Junction City, the #1 Tatum is in irregular Section 6-20s-14w. More than four miles west-southwest in North Louisiana's Union Parish is the single-well Rum Center Field. The #1 Bennett showed an initial potential of 111 bbl. of oil daily from the Smackover between 8,973-80 ft. During its first year online, the 9,100-ft. discovery produced 9,770 bbl. of crude. 5 Oklahoma City independent R.C. Taylor Cos. Inc. completed a discovery on the northern shelf of the Anadarko Basin, 3.5 miles northeast of May in northern Oklahoma. The #1-8 Blackstone, in Section 8-25n-23w in southern Harper County, was tested on a 16/64-in. choke flowing 500,000 cu. ft. of gas, six bbl. of oil and 15 bbl. of water per day. The well is producing from fracture- and acid-treated perforations in the Morrow sand between 7,208-12 ft. The producer is a mile southeast of the #1 Klein, which was initially tested flowing 539,000 cu. ft. of gas with five bbl. of oil and one bbl. of water per day from the Chester between 7,214-38 ft. 6 Louis Oil Properties, Ratliff City, Okla., completed a discovery 3.5 miles north-northwest of Davis in southern Murray County, Okla. The #13-1 Richardson, in Section 13-1n-1e, initially flowed 1.2 million cu. ft. of gas and two bbl. of oil daily during tests of an untreated Hoxbar sand interval perforated between 2,554-57 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 255 psi on a 12/64-in. choke. The new well is a half-mile off the eastern flank of Butterly Northeast Field, on the southwestern edge of the Hunton-Pauls Valley uplift. The field has oil production totaling 11.1 million bbl. with just 134 million cu. ft. of gas, according to IHS Energy. 7 Artesia-based Yates Petroleum Corp. completed a wildcat as a dual-gas producer in the northern portion of New Mexico's Lea County about 15 miles northwest of Tatum. The #2 Waylon State Unit, in Section 15-11s-34e, was tested flowing 1 million cu. ft. of gas and 39 bbl. of condensate daily through perforations between 11,759-79 ft. in the Atoka. Flowing tubing pressure was 500 psi on a 16/64-in. choke. The new well was drilled to a total depth of 12,560 ft. A mile east-northeast is the #1 Waylon State Unit, which is on standby at last report. It is slated to reach a total depth of 12,750 ft. in the Mississippian. 8 Yates Petroleum Corp., Artesia, N.M., completed an Austin Cycle discovery about eight miles northwest of Lovington in central Lea County, N.M. The #1 Adobe Scott "AYE," in Section 11-15s-34e, tested flowing 2.7 million cu. ft. of gas daily, with no liquids, through acidized perforations between 13,027-38 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 800 psi on a 24/64-in. choke. The nearest production is 1.66 miles south-southwest, where the #1 New Grass State Unit yielded a cumulative 1.19 billion cu. ft. of gas, 24,061 bbl. of condensate and 870 bbl. of water since September 2002. 9 Duncan Oil Properties Inc., Oklahoma City, permitted a 10,625-ft. wildcat three miles west of Miami in southeastern Roberts County, Texas. Objectives of the #1-126 Maddox, in Section 126, Block M-2, BS&F Survey, A-1201, were not reported but presumably include formations through the Morrow. The site is a half-mile off the eastern end of Quinduno Field. The field has recovered 24 million bbl. of oil with 333 billion cu. ft. of gas and 18 million bbl. of water from pays in the Lower Albany, Lecompton, Toronto, Lansing-Kansas City and Granite Wash to depths of around 7,250 ft., according to IHS Energy. 10 A northwestern Knox County, Texas, wildcat has been permitted by Wichita Falls, Texas-independent Gunn Oil Co. The #1 Gunn-Masterson "HM," in Section 6, Block 1, H&GN Survey, A-1613, will be drilled to a total depth of 6,300 ft. The nearest production is 2.25 miles west-northwest in northeastern King County. It produced a total of 157 million cu. ft. of gas, 457 bbl. of condensate and 2,406 bbl. of water. 11 A 7,500-ft. wildcat has been permitted by Seminole, Okla.-based Geomark Resources LLC in northwestern Lubbock County, Texas. The #1 Diane Gossett will be drilled in Section 2, Block P, EL&RR Survey, A-821, about two miles south of the Hale County line and six miles west-southwest of the town of Abernathy. The nearest drilling is nearly 1.5 miles east. The #1 Fortenberry, drilled to a total depth of 6,506 ft., recovered some oil during a drillstem test between 6,350 and 6,404 ft. 12 Gunn Oil Co. has also scheduled a wildcat more than six miles northeast of the town of Spur in central Dickens County, Texas. The #1 Prairie Pines is slated to reach 5,500 ft. in Section 341, Block 1, H&GN Survey, A-177. The nearest drilling is a half-mile south-southwest. The #1 McGee was drilled to a total depth of 2,305 ft. and abandoned. The nearest well is in Soldier Mound Field in Section 316. The 5,150-ft. well tested flowing 127 bbl. of oil and 12,000 cu. ft. of gas daily from the Tannehill between 4,948-54 ft., according to IHS Energy. 13 Lubbock, Texas, independent Robert E. Byrne completed a discovery in Eastland County, Texas, flowing 474,000 cu. ft. of gas daily. The #1 Bennett, in Section 11, Block 1, H&TC Survey, A-199, is more than 2.5 miles northwest of the west-central Texas town of Gorman. The 3,266-ft. well was tested through perforations between 3,112-20 ft. in the Duffer Lime. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 426 psi on an 11/64-in. choke. A third-mile southeast is the #2 Osborne "B." This 3,425-ft. Caddo discovery opened the one-well Taylor Field flowing gas from perforations between 2,841-52 ft. 14 Richman Petroleum Corp., Grapevine, Texas, tested a wildcat in western Erath County, Texas, more than six miles west of Stephenville. The #1 H R.P. Wilson was horizontally drilled to a total depth of 5,048 ft., or a true vertical depth of 3,926 ft. The well, in the George L. Addison Survey, A-21, was tested on gas lift for 40 bbl. of oil, 200,000 cu. ft. of gas and 200 bbl. of water per day. The nearest previous producer is 3.25 miles south-southwest, where a 3,827-ft. wildcat tested flowing 1.2 million cu. ft. of gas daily from the Marble Falls between 3,540 and 3,620 ft. The #1 Harold Parks yielded 9.75 million cu. ft. of gas during two years. 15 Katy Storage & Transportation LP, Katy, Texas, is waiting on completion tools at a West Texas test in easternmost Reeves County, nearly 25 miles east-southeast of the town of Pecos. The #2D Katy Frost, in Section 16, Block C3, PSL Survey, A-570, was drilled to 6,500 ft. The nearest production is 0.66-mile west, where the #14 J. Frost flowed a combined 76 bbl. of oil from the Delaware between 5,992 and 6,416 ft. A shallower test in the Delaware zone between 4,918-23 ft. flowed gas at 138,000 cu. ft. per day. 16 Mueller Exploration Inc., Corpus Christi, permitted a wildcat in southwestern McCulloch County, Texas, 0.66-mile east of the Concho County line. Plans call for the #1 G.R. White Trust to reach a total depth of 2,300 ft. The proposed venture is in Section 1413, Wilhelm Anders Survey, A-17, three miles west of Brady on the southernmost flank of the Bend Arch. The nearest producer is more than 1.5 miles west. The #1 Jacobson, in William Patrick Field, was completed flowing 224,000 cu. ft. of gas daily from the King Sand between 893-98 ft. The 3,253-ft. discovery was never brought onstream, according to IHS Energy.
