1 A shallower-pool discovery made by Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Houston, in Kansas' Arkalon Northwest Field flowed 353 bbl. of oil, 276,000 cu. ft. of gas and 15 bbl. of water per day from Pennsylvanian Lansing-Kansas City and Marmaton. It's the #3 Bush "B" in Section 25-33s-33w, Seward County, reports IHS Energy Group. Perforations are between 4,456-4,970 ft. in Lansing-Kansas City and at 5,134-44 ft. in Marmaton. The well is a recompletion of a Pennsylvanian Lower Morrow/Mississippian Chester gas well completed by Anadarko in 1997. 2 Comanche County, Kan., is the site of a Marmaton discovery completed by Pelican Hill Oil & Gas Inc., San Clemente, Calif., and a 6,000-ft. wildcat staked by L.D. Drilling Inc., Great Bend, Kan. Pelican recorded an initial flow rate of 1.3 million cu. ft. of gas per day through perforations at 4,934-53 ft. at the discovery, the #1-13 Thompson in Section 13-32s-18w. L.D. Drilling's new venture is the #1-1 Arlie in Section 1-31s-20w. Mississippian sediments and Ordovician Viola are the primary objectives. 3 Hanna Oil & Gas Co., Fort Smith, gauged a flow of 20.2 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Pennsylvanian Nichols at 4,614-24 ft. at the #2-2 Wilsey, a development well drilled along the southern side of Arkansas' Gragg Field. The well, in Section 2-5n-30w, Sebastian County, was tested on a 48/64-in. choke. Elsewhere in Sebastian County, Stephens Production Co., also of Fort Smith, has added a 10,000-ft. wildcat to its exploratory drilling program on its 12,331.55-acre Chaffee Arkoma Unit. The company has identified Pennsylvanian Hale sands as the principle objective of the #1-34 Fort, in Section 34-7n-30w. 4 Fort Worth independent Cross Timbers Operating Co. completed the #1-9 Griffith, a stepout located more than a half-mile north of Norman Southwest Field in McClain County, Okla., flowing 140 bbl. of oil, 90,000 cu. ft. of gas and 5 bbl. of water per day. IHS Energy Group says the extension, in Section 9-8n-3w, was tested on a 64/64-in. choke through perforations in Ordovician Bromide at 11,051-55 ft. in a sidetracked hole. 5 Oxley Petroleum Co., Tulsa, tapped Pennsylvanian Upper and Middle Atoka for a combined flow of 4.49 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the #1 Doremus, an extension a half-mile southwest of a producer on the southern flank of Oklahoma's Kinta Field. Upper Atoka, perforated between 7,624-7,846 ft., yielded 800,000 cu. ft. of gas per day, while Middle Atoka, perforated between 8,170-8,430 ft., gave up a flow of 3.69 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the outpost, in Section 15-6n-18e, Latimer County. Both zones were tested on 48/64-in. chokes. 6 Still another outpost in Oklahoma was successful, this one the Republic Energy Inc. #2-17 Hitch Enterprises in Texas County. Located in Section 17-2n-16ecm, three quarters of a mile southeast of Guymon South Field, the extension was tested flowing 3.34 million cu. ft. of gas and 3 bbl. of water per day from Upper Morrow. Republic, of Dallas, perforated at 6,283-98 ft. and tested the well using a 24/64-in. choke. 7 In Roberts County, Texas, Alpar Resources Inc., Perryton, Texas. tested a flow of 1.34 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the #1D Courson-Lips "159" to extend Atoka production in Lips Field almost a mile to the east. According to IHS Energy Group, Alpar's venture is in Section 159, Block 13, T&NO Survey, A-441. Tested on a 13/64-in. choke, the outpost is producing through three intervals between 8,061-8,124 ft. 8 Drilling is nearing 2,000 ft. at the EEX E&P Co. LP #1-27 McCoy, a Wheeler County, Texas, Morrow deeper-pool wildcat that's scheduled to go to 17,000 ft. The Houston-based company's project is in Lot 27, Camp CSL Survey, A-24, in the area of B&B and Allison-Britt fields. 9 A deeper-pool wildcat drilled by H&S Production Inc. in Montague County, Texas, yielded 85 bbl. of oil per day on pump at completion. The Farmers Branch, Texas, independent's #1 Hickman, in R. Laws Survey, A-423, also produced 200,000 cu. ft. of gas and 2 bbl. of water per day, with the production coming from Lower Ordovician Ellenburger, perforated at 6,640-68 ft. 10 Salt Lake City-based Sinclair Oil Corp. gauged a flow of 174 bbl. of oil and 100,000 cu. ft. of gas per day at its #1 Brooks, a Pennsylvanian Canyon Reef discovery completed in Section 163, Block 1A, H&TC Survey, A-85, Nolan County, Texas. The company used a 12/64-in. choke to test the well through perforations at 5,627-72 ft. Meanwhile, a quarter-mile to the southeast in the same section, Sinclair is drilling below 6,000 ft. and nearing projected depth of 6,300 ft. at the #2 Brooks. Another discovery has been completed in Nolan County. The LCS Production Co. #1-A Connally Unit that had an initial gauge of 80 bbl. of oil, 33,000 cu. ft. of gas and 60 bbl. of water per day from Flippen. The well, in Section 3,Block 6, T&P Survey, is producing through perforations at 3,218-36 ft. 11 Pure Resources LP, Midland, is preparing to move in rotary tools at the #5701 ACU in Section 57, Block R3, GC&SF Survey, A-493, Terrell County, Texas. IHS Energy Group notes the new-field wildcat is projected to a depth of 17,000 ft. The nearest comparable drilling is 2.5 miles to the southeast at a 17,353-ft. dry hole. The unsuccessful test topped Ellenburger at 16,670 ft. 12 A flow of 1,163 bbl. of oil and 1.121 million cu. ft. of gas per day on a 17/64-in. choke was credited to the EOG Resources Inc. #1 Hall "82," an extension of Amacker-Tippett Southwest Field in Upton County, Texas. EOG, of Houston, perforated at 9,376-9,406 ft. in Permian Wolfcamp at the outpost, in Section 82, Block D, CCSD&RGNG Survey, A-901, more than a 1.5 miles east of the field. The company plans to step out nearly another mile to the northeast to drill the 10,100-ft. #1 McGill "71" Unit in Section 71, Block C, CCSD&RGNG Survey, A-46. 13 Midland independent Titan Resources LP is drilling below 20,730 ft. at a Loving County, Texas, wildcat that originally was projected to a depth of 20,000 ft. Titan's project is the #1 Dooley, in Section 3, Block 75, PSL Survey, A-1241. In the same section, a quarter-mile to the southeast, there's an unsuccessful test that bottomed at 22,458 ft. in Ordovician. Nearly 2 miles south-southeast of the #1 Dooley, in Winkler County, Titan has made location for another deep wildcat at the #1 Davis in Section 21, Block 75, PSL (M.M. Leeman) Survey, A-1688. Projected depth is 20,000 ft. 14 Texas' King County is the location of the #3 AWM "E," a Bunger discovery completed by Burnett Oil Co. Inc., Fort Worth, pumping 160 bbl. of oil per day, with 11,000 cu. ft. of gas. The company perforated at 4,034-50 ft. at the well, in Section 11, Block 2, S. Lazarus Survey, A-578, reports IHS Energy Group. 15 Southwestern Energy Co., Fayetteville, Ark., has announced continued success in its Permian Basin drilling program. Production has begun at the #1 Bimini "13" State discovery well in Southwestern's Vacuum prospect in Lea County, N.M. That well is currently producing 190 bbl. of oil and 180,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from Permian Blinebry at approximately 7,200 ft. Southwestern operates and has a 100% working interest in the discovery. The #2 Bimini "13" State is being completed and tested at a rate of 325 bbl. of oil and 203,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. It bottomed at 7,830 ft. Drilling is underway at the #3 Bimini "13" State, a scheduled 7,312-ft. Blinebry test. All three ventures are in Section 13-17s-35e. The company expects two more development tests to be drilled before year-end. Southwestern's working interest in the development tests ranges from 55% to 80%. 16 A Morrow discovery and an indicated discovery are reported for New Mexico's Lea County, according to IHS Energy Group. Morrow, perforated at 11,706-18 ft., yielded a flow of 751,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on an 8/64-in. choke at the discovery-the #1 Hytech "AUM" State in Section 2-10s-34e-completed by Yates Petroleum Corp., Artesia. In Section 22-16s-36e, Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, set pipe on bottom at 12,558 ft. and is waiting on a completion rig to test Morrow at the #1 Teague "22."
