1 Two new pays were added to Riverview East Field in Ellis County, Kan., when Kenmark Corp. , Hays, Kan., completed the #4 Fisher producing 125 bbl. of oil and 10 bbl. of water per day. IHS Energy Group reports the well, in Section 28-11s-18w, is producing from four commingled zones-Heebner at 3,095-97 ft., Toronto at 3,313-15, Lansing-Kansas City at 3,374-76 and Arbuckle at 3,618-25 ft. Heebner and Toronto represent shallower-pool discoveries for the field. In addition to providing the new pays, the #4 Fisher extended the field a quarter-mile northeast. 2 A one-mile westward extension of Waveland Field in Yell County, Ark., flowed 1.45 million cu. ft. of gas per day on a 48/64-in. choke when completed by Ross Exploration Inc. , Fort Smith. The company's #1 Alan Meyer, located in Section 17-5n-25w, just south of Blue Mountain Lake, is producing from Pennsylvanian Middle Atoka, perforated at 3,366-88 ft. and 3,394-3,402 ft. 3 Tulsa independent Arkana Operating Co. Inc. is drilling toward a projected depth of 6,500 ft. at the #1-15 Link, a wildcat in Section 15-9n-19w, Pope County, Ark. Arkana plans to test Pennsylvanian Barton and Hale, Devonian Penters and Cambro-Ordovician Arbuckle. The drillsite is a mile west-northwest of an abandoned well located on the northern edge of Moreland Field. 4 A discovery in Oklahoma's Stephens County, the Lariat Petroleum Inc. #1-15 Wildhorse, flowed 275 bbl. of oil per day from Pennsylvanian Lower Springer at completion. Tulsa-based Lariat gauged the flow on an open choke at the well, drilled in Section 15-1n-5w. Perforations are at 10,204-11 ft., 10,222-38 and 10,244-70 ft. IHS Energy Group notes the only other producer completed in Section 15 to date is 0.5 mile northeast, at a shallow Permian well drilled 24 years ago. It initially pumped two bbl. of oil per day from Pontotoc sands between 432 and 860 ft. and subsequently was incorporated into Sho-Vel-Tum Field. 5 An Ordovician Viola Lime deeper-pool discovery completed by D&J Oil Co. Inc. in Garfield County, Okla., yielded 230 bbl. of oil and 691 bbl. of water per day on pump, with 150,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. D&J, of Enid, Okla., drilled the #1-9 E.B. in Section 9-21n-6w, in the Sooner Trend. The company perforated at 7,004-42 ft. at the successful exploratory test located in an area of Mississippian production. 6 Sanguine Ltd. , Tulsa, completed the #1-25 Caroline, a 19,810-ft. exploratory test in Section 25-11n-26w, Beckham County, Okla., flowing gas from three Pennsylvanian Morrow intervals. Morrow "C-1," between 16,890-16,946 ft., yielded 7.57 million cu. ft. of gas and one bbl. of water per day on a 10/64-in. choke; Squawbelly, 19,034-40 ft., gave up 1.99 million cu. ft. of gas and 17 bbl. of water per day on a 9/64-in. choke; and, Crook, 19,660-68 ft., flowed 1.21 million cu. ft. of gas and 14 bbl. of water per day on a 32/64-in. choke. The well is a stepout approximately 0.5 mile south of Sweet Water Field. IHS Energy Group reports St. Mary Operating Co. , Denver, has a 10.94% interest in the extension. Meanwhile, about 6.5 miles southwest, St. Mary Operating recorded a combined flow of 522 bbl. of oil, 3.88 million cu. ft. of gas and 165 bbl. of water per day from three Des Moines Granite Wash intervals between 12,729-13,050 ft. at a development well in Mayfield West Field. The new producer is the #6-20 H.B. in Section 20-10n-26w. 7 Oklahoma's Blaine County has gained a discovery, the Brigham Oil & Gas LP #1 Zachary "27," that flowed 7.4 million cu. ft. of gas and 90 bbl. of condensate per day from a Springer Channel Sand. The Austin independent's well was drilled to an approximate total depth of 9,750 ft. in Section 27-16n-12w. Brigham holds a 20% revenue interest in the new well and an approximate 50% working interest in two additional Springer Channel prospects that are expected to be drilled right away. 8 A Texas County, Okla., Upper Morrow discovery flowed 3 million cu. ft. of gas and 10 bbl. of water per day at completion by EOG Resources Inc. , Houston. The 25#3VH Oakes, Section 25-2n-12ecm, was tested on a 32/64-in. choke through perforations at 6,357-70 ft. It's 1.5 miles north of two Lower Morrow producers in the Texhoma North Field area. 9 Work being carried out by Phillips Petroleum Co. in its exploration and development program in Texas' Sherman County has resulted in the completion of the #8 Files flowing 7.99 million cu. ft. of gas. 69 bbl. of condensate and one bbl. of water per day. The well, in Section 112, Block 1-C, GH&H Survey, A-779, is producing through perforations at 6,310-20 ft. and 6,334-40 ft. in Lower Morrow. It confirms the opener of Cumberland Field that was completed in 1993 flowing 5.31 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Lower Morrow at 6,406-20 ft. 10 A new development well completed by EOG Resources Inc. in its continuing delineation of Amacker-Tippett Southwest Field in Upton County, Texas, was initialed for a flow of oil at the daily rate of 1,098 bbl. on a 12/64-in. choke. IHS Energy Group notes it's the #1 Amacker "65" that's producing from Permian Wolfcamp, perforated at 9,380-9,420 ft. EOG's new well is in Section 65, Block C, CCSD&RGNG Survey, A-43. 11 Tom Brown Inc. , Denver, and Chevron USA Inc. have entered into an area of mutual interest and a joint operating agreement in the horizontal Montoya trend area of the Delaware Basin in Reeves County, Texas, according to an announcement by Tom Brown. The companies are each contributing approximately 8,000 net acres to the joint development agreement. Costs will be share equally and Tom Brown will be the operator through the drilling and completion phase. The joint venture will target deep tight carbonate reservoirs in Silurian Montoya and Devonian horizons. Tom Brown reports the initial test, the #1 Lyda in Section 4, Block C4, PSL Survey, A-4603, is being drilled toward a total vertical depth of approximately 15,500 ft. Current plans are to drill a 4,000-ft. lateral in Montoya achieving a measured depth of 19,500 ft. Tom Brown and Chevron will each have a 50% working interest in the venture. 12 Elsewhere in Reeves County, TMBR/Sharp Drilling Inc. , Midland, is active at its #2 Ligon "22" State. According to IHS Energy Group, plans call for drilling to continue to a depth of 18,000 ft. at the wildcat, in Section 22, Block 7, H&GN Survey, A-4355. 13 In Texas' Scurry County, a dual producer-the wildcat #1 Neely "129" completed by Big Spring independent Sharp Image Energy Inc. -yielded a flow of oil at a combined daily rate of 322 bbl. The discovery, in Section 129, Block 97, H&TC Survey, A-2568, was tested flowing 155 bbl. of oil and 160,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 16/64-in. choke through perforations at 5,358-61 ft. in Wolfcamp. A deeper Pennsylvanian Reef zone, Canyon Lime at 7,096-99 ft., gave up a flow of 167 bbl. of oil and 260,000 cu. ft. of gas per day through a 14/64-in. choke. 14 Harvey E. Yates Co. Inc. , Roswell, N.M., has released details on a remote wildcat completed in New Mexico's Otero County in late 1997, according to IHS Energy Group. Yates perforated at 4,506-18 ft. in Mississippian and gauged a flow of 1.294 million cu. ft. of gas per day, with a trace of condensate and water, on a 14/64-in. choke at the #1Y Bennett Ranch Unit, Section 14-26s-12e. Yates previously announced that the discovery, which is the first producing well in Otero County, had flowed at a sustained rate of 4.4 million cu. ft. of gas daily on an extended production test. 15 Production testing is under way at the David H. Arrington Oil & Gas Inc. #1 Royal Stimulator, an indicated discovery in Section 31-15s-36e, Lea County, N.M. The Midland operator drilled to a total depth of 11,023 ft. and set pipe at 10,750 ft. Original plans called for the test to be directionally drilled to a true vertical depth of 13,600 ft. A quarter-mile east-southeast, oil and gas were recovered on drillstem tests in Wolfcamp at 10,818-40 ft. and 10,840-70 ft. at a wildcat abandoned at a total depth of 10,950 ft. in 1978. 16 Nonproducing Socorro County, N.M.. is to get a remote wildcat, the #1 Dulce Draw State that was staked by Primero Operating Inc. , Roswell. Projected depth is 7,000 ft. at the venture, in Section 2-4s-9e. It is more than 60 miles north of the nearest well to yield production: gas and water from 4,040 ft. in Morrow, in Otero County. In 1996, an unsuccessful wildcat that bottomed at 6,190 ft. in Precambrian was drilled three miles west-southwest of Primero's new location.
