1 A wildcat scheduled to evaluate formations through Cambrian Reagan, to a depth of about 3,775 ft., is to be drilled by Murfin Drilling Co. Inc., Wichita, in Norton County, Kan. It's the #1-20 Ninemire in Section 20-3s-24w, reports IHS Energy Group. The new location is about four miles from two fields-Norton to the southeast and Norton North to the east. 2 Phillips Petroleum Co. made a deeper-pool discovery in Oklahoma's Guymon South Field, completing its #4 Wavia flowing 2.98 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Pennsylvanian Atoka. The company perforated at 6,342-50 ft. at the well, in Section 17-1n-15ecm, Texas County. IHS Energy Group notes there are just four wells in the county with production reported from Atoka, the nearest being 16 miles to the southeast in Caple South Field. 3 Marathon Oil Co., Houston, has completed two stepouts in Washita County, Okla., flowing gas from Pennsylvanian zones. Gauge was 6.58 million cu. ft. of gas and 140 bbl. of condensate, with 37 bbl. of load water, on an 18/64-in. choke from five intervals in Springer (overturned or repeated) between 9,945-10,593 ft. at the #2-36 School in Section 36-8n-16w. The well is an extension of Gotebo North Field. Marathon's second stepout, which extends an unnamed pool, is the #2-25 Lucas in Section 25-9n-20w. The company used a 32/64-in. choke to test "Schneberger" (Granite Wash) for a flow of 3.04 million cu. ft. of gas per day. The extension flowed from 12,186-12,206 ft. and 12,218-56 ft. A third Pennsylvanian completion reported in Washita County is the Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co. #2 Sunny-Joe, an Elk City Field development well that yielded a combined 15.61 million cu. ft. of gas and 48 bbl. of water per day from two Upper Morrow zones. Houston-based Burlington tested 8.38 million cu. ft. per day on a 14/64-in choke from Upper Morrow "C" at 14,759-63 ft. and 7.23 million cu. ft. per day on a 12/64-in. choke from 14,956-64 ft. in Upper Morrow "D" at the well, in Section 35-10n-20w. 4 A 19,940-ft. exploratory test in Backham County, Okla., flowed 3.42 million cu. ft. of gas and 24 bbl. of water per day at completion by Sanguine Ltd., Tulsa. Lower Morrow, perforated at 19,616-20 ft., was tested on a 12/64-in. choke at the #1-24 Sweetwater, drilled in Section 24-11n-26w. 5 Tulsa-based KCS Medallion Resources Inc. recorded a flow of 18.2 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the #1 McCabe, a Panola Field development well in Section 14-5n-19e, Latimer County, Okla. IHS Energy Group reports the operator tested on a 13/64-in. choke after perforating five intervals of Bullard (Lower Atoka) between 10,214-66 ft. 6 Texaco E&P Inc. is nearing 2,000 ft. at the #32-1 W.H. May Ranch, a 16,000-ft. wildcat it's drilling in Pittsburg County, Okla. The venture, which is being directionally drilled from a surface location in Section 32-3n-16e, apparently will evaluate several formations with the deepest being Cambro-Ordovician Arbuckle. 7 Indianapolis Field in Custer County, Okla., was extended by the Chesapeake Operating Inc. #1-31 Foster, which was completed flowing 2.35 million cu. ft. of gas, 63 bbl. of oil and 40 bbl. of water per day. Chesapeake, based in Oklahoma City, tested through a 22/64-in. choke after perforating four intervals in Pennsylvanian Cherokee between 11,465-11,572 ft. The stepout is in Section 31-13n-15w, about a mile from two wells on the northeastern flank of the field. 8 Another successful stepout has been reported, this one the Phillips Petroleum Co. #5 H. McQuiddy in the Texas Panhandle's Hemphill County. The extension, in Section 6, Block 1, G&M Survey, A-436, about a half-mile west of a producer on the north flank of Howe Ranch North Field, was tested for 10.4 million cu. ft. of gas, five bbl. of condensate and 13 bbl. of water per day. Phillips perforated at 12,040-50 ft. in Upper Morrow Sand. Other work by Phillips in Hemphill County includes a 20,100-ft. wildcat the company plans to drill at the #1 Hanson. The new location is in Section 28, Block 41, H&TC Survey, A-172. 9 Chisholm Exploration Inc., Abilene, completed a Nolan County, Texas, Pennsylvanian Caddo discovery-the #2 Adkins-pumping 98 bbl. of oil and 70 bbl. of water per day, reports IHS Energy Group. The #2 Adkins, Section 57, Block 19, T&P Survey, A-315, is producing through perforations at 6,160-78 ft. It's a quarter-mile east of Chisholm's #1 Adkins, the opener of Panther Mountain Field. The company completed the new-field discovery last May as a Pennsylvanian Canyon Reef well producing from 5,327-39 ft. 10 A shallower-pool discovery, completed flowing 515 bbl. of oil and 348,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from 6,835-83 ft. in Wolfcamp/Wolfcampian, was made recently by Pioneer Natural Resources USA Inc., Irving, Texas, in Irion County, Texas. The company's #1 Sugg "46" is in Section 46, Block 1, H&TC Survey, A-770. It's a half-mile northwest of 7,185-ft. Canyon production in Rock Pen Field. 11 Another shallower-pool opener was recently completed in Texas, the #2 Roark "34" in Winkler County's Papoose Field. Midland-based Penwell Energy Inc. gauged a flow of 131 bbl. of oil, 287,000 cu. ft. of gas and 41 bbl. of water per day on a 30/64-in. choke from 9,794-9,890 ft. in Permian First Bone Spring. The well is in Section 34, Block 27, PSL Survey, immediately southeast of Pennwell's 18,460-ft. #1 Roark "34," completed more than a year ago as an Atoka gas/condensate well producing from 15,260-66 ft. 12 CMS Oil & Gas Co., the oil and gas E&P unit of Dearborn, Mich.-based CMS Energy Corp., reports the completion of its third horizontal Devonian gas well, the #1801H Lela, outside the city of Midland in Midland County, Texas. The well flowed at a rate of 12 million cu. ft. of gas and an estimated 1,000 bbl. of condensate per day on a 36/64-in. choke. CMS holds a 90% working interest and Texaco has approximately a 10% interest in the well, which is in Section 18, Block 39, T2S, T&P Survey, A-447. The #1801H Lela was drilled vertically to an approximate depth of 11,800 ft. and horizontally a distance of about 5,600 ft. Last September, CMS completed the discovery #1701H Garrett flowing 5.7 million cu. ft. of gas and 200 bbl. of condensate per day. A subsequent development completion, the #1702H Garrett, flowed 10 million cu. ft. of gas and an estimated 500 bbl. of condensate per day 13 A Lea County, N.M., wildcat finaled by Louis Dreyfus Natural Gas Corp., Oklahoma City, flowed 127 bbl. of oil and 2.102 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Morrow, according to IHS Energy Group. The discovery #2 Toro "27" State Com, Section 27-19s-35e, yielded the flow on a 15/64-in. choke through perforations at 12,888-97 ft. Dreyfus owns a 90% working interest in the well. 14 Also in Lea County, David H. Arrington Oil & Gas Inc., Midland, has completed what apparently is the first horizontal producer in Shoe Bar North Field.
