McDermott announced on March 28 that Shell Trinidad and Tobago Ltd. awarded it a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the Manatee gas development project. McDermott had previously carried out an earlier contract for the project.

Under the contract, McDermott will provide comprehensive FEED services for a wellhead platform, export pipeline system, shore approach, midstream pipeline and onshore control room for the field in 300 ft water depth offshore Trinidad and Tobago. The field represents one of the country's largest natural gas reserves discovered to date and will help bolster the country's gas supply.

Manatee is expected to start production in 2027 at around 700 MMcf/d.
