McDermott International will provide integrated solutions for KBR's proprietary ammonia technologies through a global licensing agreement, a press release announced on Aug. 3.
Per the agreement, the two companies will together discuss opportunities to provide modularized execution concepts that will drive additional efficiencies to meet the needs to KBR's green and blue ammonia projects.
As the ammonia market continues to grow, this agreement provides a solution to meeting increasing demand through combining KBR's technology with McDermott's "global execution capabilities and fabrication and modularization expertise," according to the release.
"This agreement enables us to offer customers an integrated approach for low-carbon ammonia projects by combining KBR's best-in-class ammonia technology with our global project delivery know-how, low-carbon execution approach and leadership in ammonia storage solutions," McDermott's senior vice president of onshore Tareq Kawash commented in the release.
"This technology partnership is an important addition to our growing energy transition portfolio and strengthens our concept-to-completion capabilities," he continued.
Green and blue ammonia is produced from renewable or low-carbon sources and can be used as carbon-free fertilizers, energy carriers or fuel. These capabilities make it an important tool in global decarbonization efforts.
Headquartered in Houston, KBR provides technology and engineering solutions to various markets, including the upstream and renewables sectors, in 34 countries.
"We are pleased to enter into an alliance agreement with McDermott to deliver world-class energy transition projects based on KBR's leading ammonia technology," KBR senior vice president of global sales Aman Ahmad added.
"This agreement will enable KBR and McDermott to leverage each other's strengths to deliver exceptional value to our clients as they scale and accelerate their energy transition initiatives."
