LS Power has acquired Engie Services US and rebranded the company to its previous name Opterra Energy Services.
The acquisition’s completion was announced June 12 by LS Power, a developer and operator focused on the North American power and energy infrastructure sector.
Headquartered in Oakland, California, Opterra provides services that include energy efficiency upgrades, renewable energy systems, energy storage, microgrids, operations and maintenance, HVAC and lighting as well as measurement and verification services, LS Power said in a news release.
“We’re building on a proven foundation to deliver innovative, leading-edge technology solutions that make energy efficiency and low carbon projects accessible and impactful,” Opterra Energy CEO Courtney Jenkins said.
Opterra joins LS Power’s existing portfolio of energy infrastructure companies that provide energy efficiency and grid reliability services.
LS Power CEO Paul Segal called Opterra’s energy efficiency services and low-carbon offerings a strategic fit for LS Power’s expanding portfolio.
“Meeting America’s growing energy demand will require a ‘more-of-everything’ approach—and the energy services market is an integral piece of that puzzle,” Segal said. “The addition of OPTERRA brings a rare combination of leadership talent, technical expertise and trusted customer relationships that enhance LS Power's energy solutions platform.”
Earlier this year, LS Power acquired Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp.’s renewable energy business, forming Clearlight Energy to manage the acquired assets. The transaction in January 2025 added to a fleet of more than 23 gigawatts of renewable, energy storage, flexible gas and renewable fuels generation capacity.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
