Indonesian shipping company SOECHI Lines contracted Kongsberg Digital to implement its Vessel Insight technology on six crude oil tankers and LPG carriers, with the remaining vessels to be connected after the initial rollout, according to a company press statement on Oct. 27.
Kongsberg's SaaS-based Vessel Insight technology will provide SOECHI with vessel-to-cloud data infrastructure to securely capture and aggregate data, providing easy access to fleet operation optimization data analysis, fleet overview and vessel-specific dashboards.
In addition, the system also allows access to a wide range of additional applications and services through the Kognifai Ecosystem.
"We are pleased that the company has chosen Kongsberg Digital to support their digital journey," Kongsberg vice president of growth, digital ocean Christopher Bergsager said in the release. "This contract is another significant step towards the global digitalization of the shipping industry."
As one of Indonesia's largest tanker operators and shipyard companies, SOECHI is responsible for shipping oil, gas and chemicals across the country, as well as to Southeast Asia, India and the Middle East. The company is looking to digitize and strengthen its operations to become more safe and sustainable.
"Vessel Insight will provide valuable analysis and contextual data, which will be used to optimize operations," director fleet VM of the Soechi Group Kamran Mahmood Khan commented in the release. "With continuous improvement, we are one step closer to more transparent and greener shipping."
