The Dos Caminos joint venture will expand its capabilities to gather, treat and transport natural gas from the Austin Chalk and Eagle Ford shale plays, a press release announced on July 26.

Comprised of Howard Energy Partners and Eagle Ford Midstream, the joint venture was created to develop additional natural gas transportation opportunities in the Eagle Ford shale region of South Texas, as well as jointly market capacity on the companies' existing South Texas systems.

Dos Caminos currently gathers, treats and transports up to 1 Bcf/d of natural gas to premium markets and has plans to double the capacity to 2 Bcf/d through enhancing existing systems and developing new greenfield pipelines.

"Given our unique pipeline footprint and history in South Texas, we are best situated to respond to the significant natural gas production growth in the Webb County area," Howard Energy Partners CEO Mike Howard commented in the release.

"These projects will be completed in phases with the initial phase anticipated to be completed in the third quarter of next year and the remainder in 2024."

Based in San Antonio, Texas, Howard Energy Partners owns and operates natural gas and crude oil pipelines, natural gas processing plants, refined products storage terminals, deep-water dock and rail facilities, fractionation facilities, hydrogen production facilities and other related midstream assets across Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Mexico.
