Hess Corp. received recognition as a leader in climate change stewardship in CDP Worldwide’s 2022 climate change scores for the 14th consecutive year, the company announced in a Dec. 21 press release.

This year, Hess is one of only two U.S. oil and gas producers to be recognized.

CDP, an international nonprofit running an environmental disclosure system, scored Hess based off the company’s climate related governance, disclosure practices and management risks. Hess scored above the oil and gas extraction and production sector average and North American regional average. 

In October, Hess also earned level 4 status in Transition Pathway Initiative’s (TPI) 2022 assessment report, the highest level in TPI’s scoring that companies can achieve for their practices managing climate related risks from a governance, operational and strategic perspective. 

TPI’s assessment scores the progress companies make in transitioning to a low carbon economy and are based off Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations.
