Houston-based Helix Energy Solutions Group has entered into a new multi-year contract with Shell Offshore to provide well intervention services in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Helix said on Sept. 3.
Under the contract, commencing in 2025, Helix said it will provide “an increased minimum number of days annually” with the Q5000 riser-based well intervention vessel, intervention riser systems, ROVs and project management and engineering services.
The services are expected to cover fully integrated operations including production enhancement and plug and abandonment well services.
The operations also include equipment linked to the Subsea Services Alliance, a partnership between Helix and SLB.
“The contract is reflective of improving market conditions and increased demand for Helix’s assets and services, as we continue executing on our strategy by providing best-in-class and global leading well intervention services,” said Scotty Sparks, Helix’s executive vice president and COO.
