Halliburton Co. installed the Halliburton Fuzion EH electro-hydraulic downhole wet-mate connector was installed for Petrobras in Brazil, the oilfield services provider said Nov. 29.
The Halliburton Fuzion is the first single trip, deepwater electro-hydraulic wet connect and a significant technological advancement in downhole electric completion. Meant to help preserve Halliburton’s SmartWell completion systems and avoid formation damage during workover operations, the single trip wet connect increases well recovery factors and aids intervention operations to make them safer and simpler.
The goal to give customers the ability to control and manage reservoirs across their assets independently starts with this collaboration with Petrobras and Shell, said Mark Dawson, vice president of Halliburton Completion Technology. With this achievement, Halliburton solidifies its future of completions, a vision on advancing technology to better the speed of digital oilfield capabilities, step-change technologies and an eventual transition to all-electric completions systems.
This is the first single trip openhole completion to span across multiple zones. Though it has made strides in the industry, the Fuzion-EH Connector is just the first act towards a fully electric completion, said Dawson.
Halliburton and Petrobras have plans to continue updating the Fuzion-EH connector for implementation by Petrobras in 2023. The future dual trip system is supposed to improve SmartWell system installation processes while continuing the single trip system benefits.
