The discovery is an offset to a John Vickers Field well in the same survey. 4 New Century Exploration Inc., Spring, Texas, has an apparent discovery in its #1 Tharp well in Frederick H. Rankin Survey, A-57, Harris County, Texas. The 8,025-ft. well tested 140 bbl. of oil and 158,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas from perforations between 7,856-70 ft. through a 12/64-in. choke with flowing tubing pressure of 520 psi. The apparent Yegua discovery is an east offset to the nearest Rankin Field well in the same survey. The #23 Rankin Unit was completed in 1956 for 114 bbl. of oil per day from Yegua, says IHS Energy. 5 Les Texas & Co., Houston, was awaiting completion tools after setting casing to 5,749 ft. at its #1 Kothman well in Section 967, Joel C. Bradford Survey, A-79, in southeastern Frio County, Texas. The nearest previous drilling was a half-mile northeast in the same survey, where the #1 B E.B. Kothman "NCT-2" flowed 105 bbl. of oil a day from the Austin Chalk. More than a half-mile east-southeast in the same survey, the #2 E.B. Kothman was completed from an interval between 5,548-53 ft. pumping 86 bbl. of oil a day in Hindes Field. 6 Petro Hunt LLC, Dallas, permitted the #1 Savannah-Frieda Paragmann, a 17,000-ft. wildcat, at a site about 3.5 miles northwest of Runge in eastern Karnes County, Texas. The well, in Ramon Musquiz Survey, A-7, is about 3.75 miles from the nearest active well in Speary Field, which produces from Wilcox between 9,458-71 ft. The nearest production below 15,000 ft. is more than eight miles east-northeast in DeWitt County, where a well tested 15 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Sligo perforations. 7 Three Miocene zones between 9,050 and 9,114 ft. tested 7.9 million cu. ft. of gas and 400 bbl. of condensate a day at a wildcat drilled in Texas state waters off Aransas County. LLOG Exploration Texas LP, Houston, completed its #1 State Tract 693L wildcat in the northwestern segment of Matagorda Island Block 693L. The well is a northeast offset to a wildcat the company permitted last year on Matagorda Island Block 828S, but hasn't yet drilled. 8 About 12 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, in Nueces County, Texas, Ventex Operating Corp., Dallas, completed an apparent new-pool discovery in the Arnold-David Field area flowing 1.8 million cu. ft. of gas and 134 bbl. of condensate a day. The #1-113 Chapman, in Ramon de Ynojoas Survey, A-411, was drilled to 12,100 ft., plugged back to 11,275 ft. and produced through Frio perforations between 11,064-98 ft. Ventex tested the well through a 12/64-in. choke with 3,600 psi of flowing tubing pressure. 9 Sklar Exploration Co. LLC, Shreveport, La., completed a wildcat discovery about 1.5 miles south of the Arkansas state line in Union Parish, La. The #1 D.H. McVicker tested 75 bbl. of oil and 7,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas through Cotton Valley perforations between 5,478-88 ft. The well is in Section 14-23n-2e, about 3.5 miles southwest of Huttig, Ark. The nearest production below 3,000 ft. is seven miles north-northeast from Cotton Valley. 10 Bridwell Oil Management of Alabama LLC, Wichita Falls, Texas, is waiting for completion tools at its #1 Strickland wildcat in Beauregard Parish, La.
