The 9,620-ft. well, about 10 miles north of Sulphur Springs in RRC District 5, was tested on a 12/64-in. choke with flowing tubing pressure of 1,800 psi from 9,362-70 ft. 2 As part of its ongoing drilling program in southwestern Anderson County, Texas, Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has permitted a deep exploratory test near a recently completed discovery. The #2 Gregory "A" is on a 704-acre lease about two miles northeast of the Freestone County line. It is slated to reach 18,500 ft. in the Jose Ignacio Aguilera Survey, A-5. The #2 is about a mile southeast of the #1 Gregory "A," which the operator completed this past June in the same survey. The #1 flowed 7.6 million cu. ft. per day from perforations at 16,600-06 ft. in the Bossier. Anadarko has permitted three other proposed tests in the same survey: The #1 TDC "A," which was drilled to a total depth of about 17,300 ft. in mid-October; the #1 Toole "A," which was spudded in mid-July, and the #1 Carroll "A," on which no activity has been reported. 3 EOG Resources Inc. has completed an apparent deeper pool discovery in central Nueces County's Clarkwood South Field. About six miles southwest of Corpus Christi, Texas, the #2 Geistman Gas Unit, GC&SF RR Co #315 Survey, A-818, was tested flowing about 1.3 million cu. ft. of gas, 55 bbl. of condensate and 67 bbl. of water per day from the Moore at 10,020-46 ft. EOG's new producer is less than a mile north-northeast of its #1 Geistman Gas Unit in the GC&SF #318 survey, A-986, which was completed this past April to reestablish production in Airport Field. 4 San Antonio, Texas-based EEX Exploration & Production Co. Ltd. (now Newfield Exploration) as scheduled a wildcat on a 666-acre lease in western Edwards County, Texas, says IHS Energy. The #6201 Shaw "B," about 20 miles southwest of Rock Springs, is slated to reach 10,000 ft. in undrilled Section 62, Block 3, GWT&P RR Co Survey, A-1936. The venture is nearly a mile south-southeast of a 9,900-ft. wildcat temporarily abandoned by EEX in 2001. 5 Abaco Operating LLC, San Antonio, Texas, set 7.625-in. casing to 14,105 ft. at a 15,730-ft. horizontal wildcat in northwestern Live Oak County, Texas. The #1 USA, Luis Ayers #15 Survey, A-2, was originally scheduled to bottom more than a mile south beneath the same survey. The nearest previous drilling is also in the Luis Ayers #15 Survey, A-2. The nearest horizontal well is about six miles northeast in Three Rivers Field. 6 Dallas-based Ventex Operating completed the #1 Floyd Patterson discovery in the Jose Pacheco Survey, A-337, eastern Jim Wells County, Texas, at a total depth of 5,800 ft. Gas flowed at the rate of 1.2 million cu. ft. per day with no liquids. The well was tested on a 12/64-in. choke with flowing tubing pressure of 1,475 psi from 4,064-80 ft. In the same survey, a little more than a mile away, is a Magnolia City North Field well that yielded a cumulative 892,000 cu. ft. of gas. Magnolia City North has been onstream since the 1940s and has recovered more than 34.68 billion cu. ft. of gas, 9.79 million bbl. of oil and condensate and 68.65 million bbl. of water, primarily from the Oligocene. 7 IHS Energy reports that Kilgore, Texas-based J-W Operating Co. reached a total depth of 11,620 ft. at a wildcat in North Louisiana's Webster Parish. Originally proposed to 13,000 ft., the #1 Bist-Webster Oil Co 35, Section 26-18n-10w, was slated to bottom nearly 0.5-mile southeast beneath Section 35. The nearest production is in Sibley Field, about three miles southeast. 8 Oil Management of Alabama LLC, Wichita Falls, Texas, set 4.5-in. casing to 3,242 ft. at a Louisiana wildcat about two miles south of the Mississippi state line. The #1 Richard F. Dicharry, irregular Section 72-1s-1e, was drilled to a total depth of 3,600 ft. Nearly two miles northeast is a Frio producer in irregular Section 76 that was completed in 1991. Shallower production from the Upper Miocene is about two miles to the southwest. 9 Shell Offshore Inc. is planning its first wildcat on Alaminos Canyon Block 813 in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico in an attempt to extend its Great White prospect northward. The #1 OCS-G-17561 is scheduled to be drilled in 8,044 ft. of water. An additional test may be drilled on the block, according to a supplemental exploration plan. About four miles south are two Great White wells drilled by Shell this past summer in the southwestern corner of Block 857. The #2 OCS-G-17565, drilled in 8,009 ft. of water, encountered hydrocarbons to an undisclosed total depth. Shell also encountered hydrocarbons at the #1 (BP1) OCS-G-17565, also drilled to an undisclosed depth. Shell, BP and ChevronTexaco are equal partners in the Great White wells. 10 Denver independent Forest Oil Corp. has released details on a discovery completed more than a year ago to open Block 97 in the northeastern portion of South Marsh Island. The #1 OCS-G-21619 was tested flowing 5.9 million cu. ft. of gas per day from the Prairie perforated at 3,037-94 ft., according to IHS Energy. The well was drilled to a total depth of 3,125 ft. Forest's new producer is nearly 0.5-mile east of a 2,200-ft wildcat drilled in 1995. 11 Chevron USA Inc. has filed an initial plan of exploration, proposing 11 wells for its four-block unit in the Green Canyon area, Tonga prospect, in the Gulf of Mexico.
