The #1 Vannie Cook Trusts is in Manuel Gomez Survey, A-63, within _ mile southwest of the deepest well drilled in the county to date. The record setting 19,250-ft. test, the Coastal #1 Houts in the same survey, has pipe set at total depth. 2 Two Oligocene discoveries completed by Texaco Exploration & Production Inc. in Goliad County, Texas, are flowing gas. A gauge of 3.32 million cu. ft. of gas, 24 bbl. of condensate and 14 bbl. of water per day was recorded at the #1 Worsham Gas Unit in M.J. DeLeon Survey, A-22. The flow was gauged on a 12/64-in. choke through perforations between 14,026-14,264 ft. in Eocene Wilcox. Texaco completed the #1-L O'Connor Ranch "A," P&G Villa Survey, A-49, as a dual producer flowing a combined 1.932 million cu. ft. of gas per day. Frio at 4,284-94 ft. was tested flowing 1.012 million cu. ft. of gas per day, while Vicksburg at 4,986-5,001 ft. gave up 920,000 cu. ft. per day. 3 An Eocene Yegua discovery completed by Patterson Petroleum Inc. in Texas' Fort Bend County had an initial flow of 2.056 million cu. ft. of gas and 48 bbl. of condensate per day. The Houston-based company used a 12/64-in. choke to test through perforations at 7,528-53 ft. at the #1 Hillmar Unit, in Mark Smith Survey, A-314. 4 The #1 Brooks State Gas Unit is an Oligocene Hackberry discovery completed by Rutherford Oil Corp., Houston, in Jefferson County, Texas, according to IHS Energy Group. Located in W.B. Burton Survey, A-8, the wildcat was tested on a 15/64-in. choke for a flow of 7.631 million cu. ft. of gas and 100 bbl. of condensate per day from 10,200-10 ft. 5 Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Houston, reports it's selling gas at the rate of 51.5 million cu. ft. per day at the #3 Blair "A," an extension of its Bossier Sand play in East Texas. The stepout from Drew Field in Freestone County was drilled to a total depth of 12,885 ft. It's in H.C. Cook Survey, A-118. The company has an 82.5% working interest in the well, with El Paso Production Co. owning the remaining 17.5%. Anadarko says its gas production from the Bossier play has increased to more than 195 million cu. ft. per day (gross). The company has 21 rigs in operation throughout the play. 6 In Louisiana, Union Pacific Resources Group Inc., Fort Worth, initially tested approximately 1,600 bbl. of oil and 5 million cu. ft. of gas per day at a discovery on the Etouffee Prospect in Terrebonne Parish, according to 33.3% working interest-owner Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., Houston. The 19,270-ft. #1 Continental Land & Fur, Section 7-18s-14e, was completed in Lower Cib Op Sand with the top of the perforated interval at 18,694 ft. Union Pacific, as operator, owns the remaining 66.7% working interest. Cabot notes it has a 23.3% net revenue interest in the Etouffee Prospect. 7 Houston-based Energy Resource Technology Inc. (ERT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cal Dive International Inc. (CDI), has taken a 20% working interest in Gunnison, a deepwater prospect of Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp., Oklahoma City. CDI reports Kerr-McGee, the operator, is drilling the #1 OCS-G-17407, the initial test, in 3,200 ft. of water on Garden Banks Block 668. The block is one of three lease blocks that make up the prospect. Because ERT is a production company that does not engage directly in exploration, Cal Dive has put in place outside financial mechanisms to cover its proportionate drilling cost exposure so that CDI shareholders are essentially shielded from exploratory risk. 8 Exxon Mobil Corp. and Agip Petroleum Exploration Co., a subsidiary of the Italian oil and gas company ENI, have entered into an agreement covering up to 259 deepwater blocks in the Gulf of Mexico. Under the agreement, Agip can earn 25% of Exxon Mobil's interest in these blocks by participating in the drilling of a minimum of 12 exploratory tests over the next 5 years. The leases involved extend from Alimonies Canyon to Atwater Valley in water depths ranging from 3,000 to 8,000 ft. Agip notes the agreement covers approximately 1.3 million net acres and is the largest of its kind to date to be announced in the deep waters of the Gulf. Exxon Mobil owns 100% interest in about two-thirds of the blocks and 50% interest in the remainder. Drilling is expected to commence this year with Exxon Mobil as operator. 9 Anadarko Petroleum Corp. reports its first company-operated deepwater project in the Gulf of Mexico, the #1 OCS-G-18402 on the Marco Polo Prospect, Green Canyon Block 608, encountered 320 ft. of pay in two major intervals above salt. Formation tests recovered 30-degree oil at the remote wildcat, which is currently at a depth of 13,225 ft. Anadarko plans to drill an additional 3,500 ft. to other zones above salt and then immediately drill a sidetrack for further evaluation. The company notes the well reached its current depth in 17 days at a cost of about $7 million. Anadarko owns a 100% working interest in the Marco Polo Prospect, in 4,300 ft. of water. 10 An exploratory well drilled by Vastar Resources Inc., Houston, to test the Entrada Prospect on Garden Banks Block 782 encountered more than 360 net ft. of pay in four intervals. The company says the #1 OCS-G-20797, in 4,642 ft. of water, was drilled to a true vertical depth of 15,717 ft. Vastar holds an 80% working interest in and serves as operator of Block 782, adjacent blocks 826 and 827, and nearby Block 785. Callon Petroleum Co., Natchez, Miss., holds the remaining 20% working interest in all four blocks. 11 A discovery well, the #3 OCS-G-16337 completed by Callon Petroleum Co. on South Marsh Island Block 261, flowed 8 million cu. ft. of gas and 36 bbl. of condensate per day on a 29/64-in. choke through perforations at 8,058-74 ft. Callon says the well encountered 65 ft. of net pay (true vertical thickness) in three pay zones and was completed in the lowest zone. The current well was drilled as a replacement for the #2 test on the block, which blew out while being drilled in January. The company owns a 100% working interest in the discovery. 12 High Island Block 141 is the site of the #1 OCS-G-14864, a discovery completed by TDC Energy Corp., New Orleans, reports IHS Energy Group.
