Golden Pass LNG has the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) permission to commission the plant’s LNG system, a key step leading to production at the site.

In a letter released April 28, the FERC gave permission for the commissioning of “the boil-off gas compression system, LNG storage, liquefaction system, LNG pumps, and the end flash gas compression system.”

Golden Pass is a joint project between QatarEnergy and Exxon Mobil located on the Gulf Coast near Sabine Pass, Texas. The partners reached a final investment decision in 2019 and set an original in-service date for 2023.

On March 5, the U.S. Department of Energy granted an extension to its operational startup date to November 2029.

The project is set to begin production in late 2025 or early 2026 and, once completed, have a capacity of up to 2.57 Bcf/d of natural gas.
