Tony Moss, director of Powder River Basin at Continental Resources, is today's featured Forty Under 40 honoree.
Moss started his career at Continental as an intern in 2008, where he benefited from the wisdom of his more experienced colleagues, including the company's recently retired president and COO Jack Stark. From Stark he learned the importance of moving forward, which he still practices in his career today.
As a geologist instrumental in developing the Bakken's full potential, Moss has since shifted and joined Continental's Powder River Basin team to evaluate the region's capacity through his promotion to director of the group.
"I led Continental’s evaluation of the Powder River Basin as the exploration manager for the Rockies team, and my team and I were able to put together an industry-leading position in the core of the play in less than 18 months," he said.
Moss describes the thrill of working within the energy industry as the "love of the hunt," meaning that each day is unlike the one before.
"I’m an explorationist at heart, and there is nothing more exciting to me than identifying a new prospect or working with my team to find new ways to optimize development of an existing asset," he said.
