Exxon Mobil Corp. appointed Jim Chapman vice president, tax and treasurer effective Nov. 28, 2022, according to a company statement released Nov. 4.
Prior to joining Exxon Mobil, Chapman held several roles at Dominion Energy Inc., most recently serving as executive vie president and CFO since 2018.
Chapman began his career with Ernst & Young in Russia after receiving his bachelor's degree in history and political science from Auburn University and MBA from the University of Virginia. After that, he held several senior finance roles at Barclays Investment Bank and Lehman Brothers, working both in the U.S. and Asia.
"Jim brings a breadth of capital market and functional experience that we will put to good use as we continue to position Exxon Mobil for a leading role through the energy transition," Exxon senior vice president and CFO Kathy Mikells commented in the release.
Chapman will be succeeding Jaime Spellings as he moves into retirement.
With 31 years of experience with Exxon, Spellings has held managing finance, tax and planning roles across the U.S., U.K. and Thailand since joining Exxon Co. USA in 1991. Since then, he was appointed general tax counsel in 2010 and transitioned into his vice presidential role in 2020.
Spellings earned his bachelor's degree in business and economics from the University of Pennsylvania and his juris doctor from the University of Texas at Austin.
“We thank Jaime for more than three decades of service to ExxonMobil and wish him all the best in his retirement,” Mikells added in the statement.
