Exxon Mobil has awarded Technip Energies and JGC Corp. the FEED contract for the Rovuma LNG project in northeast Mozambique —on behalf of Mozambique Rovuma Venture, Technip announced Sept. 25.
The Rovuma LNG plant, located at Palma in the Afungi peninsula, is expected to have a total production capacity of 18 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), comprising 12 fully modularized LNG trains with 1.5 mtpa each.
The plant’s design will also feature electric-driven LNG trains instead of gas turbines and prefabricated and standardized modules to be assembled at the project site in Mozambique, to speed up delivery schedule.
“By leveraging our expertise in modularization and electrified LNG, we are committed to support ExxonMobil and its partners towards final investment decision, as well as strengthening our presence in Mozambique to contribute to long-term economic growth and its ambition to become one of Africa’s leading LNG exporters,” Mario Tommaselli, senior vice president of gas and low carbon energies at Technip Energies, said in the company’s release.
Mozambique Rovuma Venture comprises Exxon, Eni and China National Petroleum Corp., Technip said.
