EU Reaches For Hydrogen Stars as Economics Shift

In 2020, grey hydrogen could be produced for around 2 euros (US$2.26) per kilogram, compared to as much as 6 euros per kilo for the green version, industry estimates found.

the capacity to produce it in Europe and nearby countries will likely surpass current targets by 2030, European Union officials said on Nov. 29.

Countries and companies have seized on green hydrogen—a fuel obtained by passing renewably-produced electricity through water to split the element from oxygen—as a way to cut greenhouse gas emissions, especially from heavy industry.
