QT Foundation, EQT Corp.’s philanthropic establishment, distributed $3.8 million to various nonprofits surrounding education, community, economic development and environment by year-end 2022, the company announced on Feb. 13 in a press release.
Nonprofits across Appalachia were awarded, with $3.2 million distributed via grants, $230,000 via scholarships, and another $400,000 via an EQT employee contribution matching program.
In West Virginia, $60,000 were distributed to local food banks Mountaineer Food Bank, Five Loaves Food Pantry in Wetzel County, and the Mannington Food Pantry and Clothes Closet in Marion County for accessible fresh food
Outreach center The Way Community Center of Greene County received a $100,000 grant to foster community and a community kitchen, expected to open in summer 2023.
Environmental project Ducks Unlimited was awarded a $50,000 grant to restore 70 acres of wetland in a partnership with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Southside Recreational Authority.
“We are incredibly honored to be a partner with so many nonprofits across Appalachia as they work to deliver programs and services to our communities,” said Ellen Rossi, EQT Foundation president. “The nonprofit sector is stronger than ever. In fact, this year we saw a 50% increase in asks to our Foundation, allowing us an opportunity to support many new agencies and innovative programs.”
