Entergy Texas announced on Feb. 12 an agreement for a natural gas supply from Kinder Morgan (KMI) in collaboration with Golden Pass LNG.
Entergy said the boosted supply is critical for supporting business and residential growth in its Southeast Texas service area. The gas utility company did not disclose the guaranteed amount of natural gas in the agreement.
The arrangement hinges on KMI’s development of the Trident Intrastate Pipeline project. The $1.7 billion network is expected to be online in 2027. KMI designed the 216-mile Trident pipeline to deliver natural gas from the Permian Basin and the Katy, Texas, hub to the LNG corridor under construction near Port Arthur, Texas, east of Houston.
Golden Pass LNG, a JV backed by Exxon Mobil and QatarEnergy, will rely on Trident as a major supplier for its operations.
“This strategic partnership demonstrates our commitment to delivering long-term value for our customers and communities,” said Eliecer Viamontes, president and CEO of Entergy Texas.
