The US Oil & Gas Association is the oldest oil and gas trade association in the country and is the only national association with divisions in the states along the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

Originally the Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association, the US Oil & Gas Association was founded in October 1917 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following the United States’ entry into World War I.

“Our membership is very unique and is a great cross-section of industry—we have represented the majors, a lot of the independents and a lot of privately held companies so the legacy companies,” said Tim Stewart, president of US Oil & Gas Association.

Stewart recently joined Cornerstone’s Jack Belcher on the latest installment of Energy Policy Watch to discuss the top concerns of the trade association’s member companies right now including access to capital as well federal permits and leasing plus things like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ruling on climate change disclosure. 

“We’ve seen a concerted effort over the last 15 months to de-bank the industry and that’s having a significant impact on their ability to capitalize new projects,” he said.
